<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Andrea Bargnani will miss a substantial part of the rest of the NBA regular season after having an emergency appendectomy early this morning.According to various Italian media reports, including the website of La Gazetta dello Sport, the 21-year-old rookie became ill after practice yesterday and had the surgery overnight at a Toronto hospital. The Raptors confirmed later Wednesday morning those reports and that the surgery, performed at Mount Sinai Hospital, was a success. There is no official word on how long Bargnani will be sidelined. Bargnani is expected to be released from hospital in the next few days. Recovery from an appendectomy can generally take between three weeks and a month; the NBA regular season ends April 18.The 7-footer had developed into a consistent offensive threat for the Raptors and one of the team's key contributors off the bench. In 64 games, he's averaging 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The Raptors, who lead the Atlantic Division by 5 1-2 games over the New Jersey Nets, have 15 games left in the regular season. They face the Orlando Magic at the Air Canada Centre tonight.</div>Aww...sh*t...Bargnani is a VERY key part of our offense, and we aren't the same without him. I think we could struggle without Bargnani unless guys like Garbajosa and Humphries really step up..We will still probably win the division regardless of our record, so it is not a huge deal, but this will hurt us throughout the next month.I really hope Andrea is back and ready to go once the playoffs start.

Al Jefferson had the same thing happen to him. He called the coaches in the morning to say he wasn't feeling well, but he went to shootaround anyway. Then he said his stomach is hurting him so bad that he can't play for the rest of the day, so they took him to the hospital for check-up. Turned out that his appendix burst.

What's the point of me telling you this? Big Al was back playing in games 2 weeks later.

F*CK ME....well the ROY goes to Brandon Roy for sure now, I mean at least Bargnani could put up a fight for it. Hopefully he will be back for playoffs....damn is this really the wrong time for this stuff.

Every team has injuries. It's part of basketball. These next few weeiks will reveal whether or not we are a contender or a pretender.

This isn't good news for the team, but this will really put our team to the test. Like CB4 said, this will reveal whether this team can be a tough playoff contender whether with or without a key player.

This really sucks for them though. Bargnani was the best scorer off the bench, and a key spark plug as well. He was really improving and this is going to hurt the raps. Hopefully he can come back and keep up what he was doing come playoff time.

Mo Pete seriously needs to step up now or its bye bye to him when offseason comes. This is his only chance that he can get back his playing time. But so far tonight against the Magic he still hasn't stepped up. But definitely Mo Pete neeeds to be the man now.

This really sucks because I really love watching Bargnani play, but the good thing is that this isnt a basketball related injury that will re-occur, he just had surgury and as soon as he is healthy it'll never pop up again so I guess this is alright. So Yeah, cant wait to see him play in the playoffs.

When I said contender I meant "to be one of the best teams in the East". DO you honestly think any team in the East is going to beat the West in the NBA Finals? I don't. I seriously don't expect the Raps to make the Finals, I was more talking about the ECF.

That's not what contender means that's why he made the comments he did :PAnyway the East could be the West anything can happen in the playoffs. Detroit and Miami always have that potential and even LeBron could steal a few games. The Raps could win the East but I think only if the Cavs and Heat go down - we never play good against a team with an individual superstar who can takeover like Wade, Shaq or Bron. Pistons don't have that so we can beat them [IMG]
