Money for nothin'Tyrus Thomas hasn't been required to do much in his rookie season, but the forward and his entourage have had ample time to seek out new revenue streams. While his teammates recovered from a 104-103 loss in Memphis the previous night, Thomas signed autographs at a memorabilia show in Rosemont on Sunday afternoon.According to industry sources, Thomas was paid upward of $10,000 for the two-hour appearance. His fees were $39 for flat items, $49 for basketballs and jerseys and $10 for each inscription."I've had a lot of fun," Thomas said of his NBA debut.Last month Thomas received $16,250 for his last-place finish in the slam-dunk competition on All-Star weekend. If I were a player, I would feel terrible making sometimes kids, pay that much money. As much of a talent as Tyrus Thomas is, I really wonder about his charactor.

This kid is talented but he seems like he's got a chip on his shoulder. What a money hungry jackass. I hate those stupid paid autograph apperances, like we don't pay them enough with jerseys, hats, tickets, shoes, etc. F*ck that sh*t. They owe fans the 5 seconds it takes to say hey, what's up, and sign something.

And I can't believe people actually paid for his signature at those prices. I have never had to pay for an autograph. And it's worse he's a rookie charging those prices. Kid has issues, he'll need a good mentor or someone to put on the right path. I don't know whose talking into this kid's ear right now, but they're f*cking him over. He needs direction.

From what I hear, he's been doing one hell of a job.

Maybe on the court, but this kid needs a real attitude adjustment and thought process. He's in it all for the money, and I can't stand it. He is an absolutely jaw-dropping athlete, he has all the tools, but his attitude is questionable (like BCB said). He's always been an ***hole, and in the past month I've seen two articles about him doing something solely for money. If he was never paid, he'd never sign an autograph.

The most pathetic thing is, Thomas has this attitude and he barely got a scholarship from LSU, if it weren't for an injury he wouldn't have been on the team....it's just mindbloggling for a guy like that to have such a sh*tty attitude with people.

It's obvious he's not helping him in these kinds of situations dealing with the media, money and the fame aspect. He's got an ego already and I bet you the people around him are only driving it up.

But then again PJ has always been vocal through the media and not afraid to call someone out. So not neccessarily the kind that would help Ty.

He might seem like a jackass, but to alotve people, money is a huge deal..no matter how much your salary is. Im not saying hes right or anything, but where some people come from, they want that security. And yall are saying those prices are way too high...ive seen higher prices, its not that bad for a pro-athlete.And PJ Brown isnt his dad, PJ Brown has no power over Tyrus Thomas...hes going to do what he wants to do, dont blame PJ Brown for this.

I doubt he was signing a ton of autographs for little kids. It's not uncommon AT ALL for people to sign autographs and charge $50 or less for them. Most of the time the collectors will end up trying to sell the items anyway. It's not like it was on the court after the game and he refused to sign some little kids ball unless he gave him $50.I'm sure the guy has a busy schedule.

Yeah give the guy a break honestly. Most of you guys are just hating him from his past dunk comments also. PJ Brown, one of the leagues best influences, is basically his mentor and Ive been to plenty Bulls games this year and hes always signing things for kids.

Who Cares? This is not a big deal, players probably do this all the time but since Tyrus put himself under the microscope on those Dunk Comments he set himself up for these types of things in the future. Can we talk about Tyrus the player over the person please? Nobody knows what kind of person he is as much as they'd like to think. They just assume he is bad because of that one bad comment. The kid is 20, lets wait until he matures more before we judge him.

at least he doesn't rape women like Kobe Bryant, or beat women like Ron Artest, or DUI like J.J. Redick, or is a part of illegal fighting pit Bull ring like Qyntel Woods, or smokes weed like Damon Stoudamire, or throws cheap punches at players like Carmelo, or gets arrested for assault like Stephon Jackson. so big deal, he wants to make money. The nba is a business, these players wouldnt be here if they werent getting paid. I highly doubt Thomas is even setting this stuff up, its prolly his agent. Besides if your stupid enough to hand over 40 bucks or w/e for a autograph from a rookie than you are an idiot. And by the way, he donated that money from the dunk contest to his school. He can make all the money he wants off the court as long as he continues to improve and make this team better.

God damn it. I wanted Denver to win for obvious reason's. But nice job by the rook, he went up there and tipped it in. Then Carmelo couldn't get the ball off in time, he tried to pull a LBJ from 30 feet out.. Not for u melo. [IMG]

Hell Yeah. Thomas came through. Lakers needed the Nuggets to lose to move into that 6th seed ahead of Denver. Gotta Love it.

Why do people make a big deal about him gettin people to pay for his autograph? A lot of people do it, and it's not like he's forcin people to get his autograph.Ehh That price for a rookie's signature (like others have said) is pretty high tho..
