It sorta reads like he was promised a role here, much the same line the Blazers use for wooing all free agents, so nothing shocking there. I guess the flashy, rich reference to the organization either refers to the literal: first class facilities, amenities, perks or the figurative: in regards to the pitch line to him. That's my take, but I'd be interested if he was referring to the facilities, amenities, and perks because I was under the impression most the league had caught up to the Blazers there. Or, rather, the Blazers had descended to matching the rest of the league.
Why does everyone think that there is always something to decode? Not everything has a hidden meaning
Yeah makes no sense. He was productive in the playoffs last year so can't tell me he's washed up. He'd be perfect off our bench. We're way too reliant on CJ to carry the second unit offensively.
Because he also has a very strong tendency to kill his own team. 9 times in 10 seasons he's had a negative BPM. BNM
Interesting that the guy has basically been on a different team every single year for the last 10 seasons. That should tell us something.
Serious question. If someone is not good enough to make another team's 15 man roster, why do we think they would help our team? I'm sure it's happened at some point, but when was the last time a player who was cut before opening night was picked up by another team and make a significant impact for that team? Note: I am talking about players that were flat out cut, not bought out so they could go chase a ring with the team of their choosing. BNM
Dumb stat, especially when judging role players. Just for comparison, other players with negative BPM: JJ Redick, Courtney Lee, and you'll enjoy this one; Jared Dudley.
I wanted him over Martell (once we traded the 3rd pick). Neither lived up to their hype, but at least no one passed on CP3 to take Gerald Green. BNM
Yeah I remember that debate very well. There was only about 3-4 of us who wanted CP3. He was too small for the rest of the forum. The memory of Damon was too fresh in their minds.
I just picked that one. Look at Green's other advanced stats. Net rating, VORP, etc. All overwhelmingly negative. There are reasons why all of JJ Redick, Courtney Lee and Jared Dudley are actually sought out by teams, and given big, long term contracts, and Gerald Green is passed around from team to team like Mrs. HCP at a meet and greet. Feel free to ignore those reasons, but if Green is so good, why has he never stuck with any team, and why has he never made more than $3.5 million in an NBA season? BNM
I would have been fine with CP3 or Deron Williams, but it was John Nash's call and he was bound and determined to justify the Telfair pick, so no way was he taking another PG. BNM
