Sandy Koufax went into the '65 series fearing he would lose permanent use of his left arm (hich was suffering from traumatic arthritis.) He threw 335 innings that year while being high on codeine which he took every day for pain. The average starter now throws a little over 200. Oh and also struck out 29 batters in 3 games using only a fastball and a curve. That was how good he was.
