Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. I literally turn it off when it comes on the radio or TV...it seems like nobody knows anything about these guys, they are always wrong, they're mock drafts suck...I don't go on other forums and look under the draft because I just get pissed at how stupid people are.
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. I don't really agree with the radio guys and TV guys part. But I do agree with the other forums and sites part. Lots of people have no idea what they're talking about.I appreciate it, BCB, that you read about and learn about all this draft information and that you've taken a big interest in it. BBW needs BCB!
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. Some people just talk right out of their ass, agreed 100%. However, I do listen to it all anyway. I'm just hooked on basketball, I watch it all whether I agree with them or not, but most of the time, I do disagree with a lot of TV analysts about a LOT of things regarding basketball (NCAA hoops, the NBA, the draft, etc). It's only natural to disagree, however I just can't turn it off and not watch it at all. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pacers fan forever @ Mar 22 2007, 07:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Lots of people have no idea what they're talking about.</div> Well, I'm glad that you acknowledged that one.
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. ^^I know, I just sit there and laugh when I hear these local radio guys try to talk about Yi Jianlian from China being the next Dirk (china version), and all this other crap about guys that are sooo overrated.. Basically I just stick with nbadraft.net for player profile type things..

Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. The Draft takes a lot of these analysts right out of their element for the most part. It's funny at the actual NBA draft when Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith know about 0 of any player they show or that gets picked outside the top 5. Same for Stephen A Smith and Greg Anthony when they try and discuss it. They are pretty useless for the most part.

Smith in 2005 going ON AND ON about how May and McCants should have been picked way higher because "they are national champions!" He was talking about McCants like he was going to be a superstar, too. He doesn't follow the college game, neither does Greg Anthony or most people that talk about that stuff. I'm VERY VERY VERY happy that they always have Jay Bilas on hand, though. That man follows college basketball 24/7 and he has a good grasp on what's going on with all the NBA teams as well.
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. I remember Dickie V bashing the selections of Emeka Okafor over Dwight, I remember everyone on the panel calling Josh Smith a bust (even though they'd never seen him play). Bottom line, the people on ESPN and in most of the media have no idea what they are talking about, they don't watch the players and they ruin the draft experience. Jay Bilas does a good job. I honest to god, could put together a better draft night show then they could, it's kind of sad considering it's they're f*cking jobs.

But somebody on BBW posted a thread about this after the 06 draft, I can't remember who it was, but I think it sucks that as soon as the players get drafted, the ESPN people bash them like CRAZY. The worst part about it is that they can all hear what they are saying, so it's like "hey, here's your big moment!" The next thing they know, it's a tool at the ESPN desk saying "this kid doesn't have much upside, this was a horrible selection, this makes no sense, he shouldn't have been taken this high." I understand it's their job, and I definitely agree that they should give their opinions on the picks.. obviously.. but sometimes they are definitely too harsh.
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. I made a thread a while back ripping all those ESPN tool's a new ***hole. What they did to Josh Smith and Charlie Villanueva was classless. Maybe if half those nitwits knew what they were talking about I would give them a break....outside of Bilas they are all clueless....

Not when those kids are literally in the middle of shaking hands with Commissioner Stern and having their big moment. During that time, they don't need to hear the analysts calling them flat out busts. Jay Bilas is the only one who actually gives his opinions in a civil manner. Stephen A. and Greg Anthony barely even watch college basketball, I'd put money on that. These guys HAVE to give their opinions, that's what they are getting paid for that night, but do it in a professional/civil manner. Don't trash the kids as they are hugging and kissing their mothers or putting their draft cap on.
Re: I can't listen to sports media talk about the NBA Draft. I dunno - I listen to a lot of sports radio and the guys in detroit are actually pretty good. They have this show called "Stony and Wojo" (their nicknames) - and they know their stuff. Combs, and all the michigan guys probably kno who I'm talking about. They're big in Detroit.
