Any clues as to why it's basically nonexistant in the NBA today? With so many college teams playing successful basketball, especially on the defensive end, with it, why do you think so many NBA teams just completely ignore it, and the most pressure they put on the other team bringing the ball up all game is maybe sending one guard back to walk up the floor with them. I love the few guys who do this, and harass guys all the way up the court and make life tough for them. I'd absolutely love to see more NBA teams use this, and it'd make the games more intense and interesting. Anyone else?
It works better in college because the court is smaller, and the players aren't as good of ball handlers.

I love the full court press, needs to be used more.
I also love full court press. Redneck did make some good points, but I still think with hard work it would be successful in the league today. It forces a lot of turnovers and ups the tempo, so I think it would improve some offensive game plans.
Another reason teams don't do it is because the games are longer... it would tire everyone out, in my opinion. I might be wrong on that, but I think it's a small part.People do it to me on NBA 2k7 all the time, but it rarely works.
Yeah I think the fact that the court is bigger and games are longer mean that players would get more fatigued, still a few full court presses would be good to see (I do all the time on 2K7 ).
It's not something that can be done the entire game, but teams need to start pressing when they're down late in the 4th quarter. My basketball team uses the full court press nearly every game, it can cause a ton of turnovers.
Because of all the good ball handlers and athletes in the NBA. If teams tried to do this today, it would probably just result in a fastbreak dunk.
Some teams like to do it every now and then, I know sometimes Flip likes to press at certain times of the game and it catches the opposing team off guard pretty good. I do the same on 2k7, I'll probably do it 2 possessions and then go man the next or something like that. I agree that the reasons teams don't do it as much is because the great ballhandlers in this league and plus it takes a lot out of you. NBA season is way longer, longer games, and larger courts so its a little more difficult but with all the small ball in the Western Conference I don't understand why teams don't do it out there more often.
Quite frankly, at an NBA level the press would not work past one or two possessions. Ballhandlers are to good, players are smarter, and it just wouldn't result in anything good happening. It would result more in the press getting broken down, and in easier scoring oppurtunities for the other team at the NBA level than it would turnovers for your team, because as everyone knows, once a press is broken down it often times leaves the other team having numbers at the basket which is never good. Add to that, it would just tire out your team, which would have them playing more fatigued the entire game, like everyone said, and that is why you do not run to many presses at an NBA level in a real game.
I have to face a full- court press around 10-15 times in a game and it rarely works because we always find an outlet pass.
This would actually make the Playoffs more intense but for the season theres really no point in doing that unless its a team that is fighting to get a final playoff spot but in the middle of a season or the beginnig nah. But I do like watching College Basketball games and love the Intensity.
