Re: My Recent Smoking/AP Language & Composition Problems

Last week, Tuesday, March 13, my grandfather passed away. His funeral was on Thursday, March 15. My grandfather and I were very, very close (no homo) and his death affected me the most out of all of his grandchildren in the family. I cried a lot every day and one of my cousins, Irslan (Er-slen), who came for a visit from Houston, Texas, told me that smoking weed could take the pain away. I smoked with him on Saturday and got high. It was as though all my pain was taken away from a few hours. It was the first time I actually got high. I have smoked before, but not to the point where I got high. So, my cousin told me that any time I felt like crying, I should smoke some weed and it'd help me for a few hours with relaxation. Irslan went back to Houston on Monday and he said, "I don't mean to encourage smoking weed, but I know you need it. Don't get hooked to it and expect weed to solve all your problems. Reality is a bi*ch."..................Okay, maybe he didn't say that exactly, but close enough.Anyway, I went to school high every morning from Monday 'till this morning and fell asleep high every night from Saturday night 'till Wednesday night (last night). This morning, my AP Language & Composition teacher gave me a list of assignments that I'm missing. Turns it out that I have an F in AP Language, which is my 0 Period (class starts at 7 AM sharp). I had a B+ last semester and my teacher, Mrs. Fowler, said that she'd like for me to get that B again. I looked at the list and said, "Wow... I don't think I can finish most of these assignments by the end of spring break." She said, "They're due tomorrow or else you'll only receive half the credit if you turn them in after spring break." I suddenly got pissed because I thought about it and it struck me:EVEN IF I DO THE ASSIGNMENTS CORRECTLY, PARTIAL CREDIT = AT OR BELOW 50%! That means for every A+ I'd receive on these assignments, I'd still get an F! I got mad and left class. Mrs. Fowler wrote a referral and sent it to the office via e-mail.When I left, I ran into one of my friends, named Patrick. He went to a smoking party last night and I asked him if he still had some chronic on him. He pulled out a chapstick and showed me the chronic inside. It was the weirdest little contraption I had ever seen! It was a chapstick bottle with a hole at both ends, weed in the hole where the cap would go on if chapstick was actually in there, and a little hole to smoke out of at the bottom end where the rotating thing-a-ma-jig is that people with chapped lips rotate to push the chapstick sh*t up.We went to the baseball field bleachers, which are always vacant during the morning, and began smoking the chronic. I got blazed and it was a good feeling (no homo). Then Patrick and I spilled the remaining ashes on the baseball team's bench and rubbed them onto the bench so that it'd stain... Of course, it didn't stain, but we were acting silly. We sprayed some Axe on one another and chewed some Trident gum because our breath smelled like smoke. We walked around school for the next half an hour or so because school starts at 8:04 AM and it was about 7:29 AM the last time I had checked my cell phone. We went into the cafeteria and bought a couple of chocolate chip cookies, then walked over to random people and offered them the cookies. When the students would accept our offer, we'd lick the cookies in front of them, which was hilarious to us, but nasty to the dudes in the butt of the joke (no homo). Of course, we had our own separate cookies, so we weren't licking the same cookies as one another. That'd be gay...We caught up with a couple of friends we know and hung out with them until the bell rang. Everybody knew we were high and random students kept walking up to us and asking us if we were blazed. I just laughed it off becuase when I get high, I get paranoid, which is a bad combination..Alright, so, I ran into a white girl I have a huge crush on, named Kelsey, and she realized I was high. She kept asking me why I smoked, but I kept saying I had my reasons. She didn't speak to me for the rest of the school day.. She has my 5th period class and she sits right in front of me, but she ignored me the entire period. She did hug me when the bell rang, but didn't say anything to me...So, anyway, I went to 1st period as usual when the morning bell rang and my 1st period is next door to my 0 Period. My 1st period teacher told me that Mrs. Fowler wants to speak to me. I went next door and Mrs. Fowler spoke to me briefly about how she wrote a referral and still expects me to at least attempt to finish the assignments. She asked, "Are you going to be in class tomorrow?" I shook my head and she said, "Well, that figures. Good luck with the rest of your high school career then."I left her class and right when I walked out, the campus supervisor came and got me. He took me to the assistant principal's office, but the assistant principal was in a meeting with some parents. I waited for the rest of 1st period and 5 minutes before the bell rang for the end of 1st period, Mr. Yetter, the assistant principal, stepped out of the office and told me that he'd call me into his office later on because he was in an important meeting. So, then I walked around school all high for the next 5 minutes and had a little fun here and there. The reason I believe none of the teachers could tell I was high was because I didn't look anyone in the eyes when they spoke to me and I had some glasses on, which don't really help, but they helped it seem as though I was tired because my eyes were drooping behind 'em.Alright, then I lost my high state around the beginning of 2nd period. Blah blah blah.. I didn't get called up to the office (yet). I expect Mr. Yetter to call me up tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day until our 2 week Spring Break, so a suspension won't really do much but add on to my Spring Break. When school ended, I walked with Kelsey. She wasn't talking to me, so I said, "I promise I'll stop smoking." Then she smiled and said, "I don't expect you to stop." So I guess she was testing me and I've decided to try to resist temptations to smoke. We didn't say anything else the rest of the way out of school, which is a long walk by the way. We hugged and parted ways.Basically, if you actually read the entire story, I need to ask:What would you do in my place in these few topics:Smoke to resist stress or not smoke & cry all day because my grandpa died last week, which hit me hard... (no homo)?Finish all the missed assignments (that I missed because I didn't come to school for the one week my grandpa was in the hospital and the week he passed away) and still receive an F or just not show up to class and take regular English III during summer school?

I can feel for that man... when my grandpa died I was totally devastated. But just think of what he would want you to do. I would stop smoking until your grades get higher. Keep your head up man. I would work my ass off in school if I were you.

I'm only failing that class. I had a 3.1 GPA last semester and currently have a C or higher in every class, except, of course, AP Language & Composition (F) and AP US History (D). I know I can get to at least a D before school ends, but it'll be a long process.I guess I'll stick it out.

Keep in mind your losing brain cells by smoking, so that isn't exactly going to be helping your grades.

Omg no offense Sophee - but that whole part about the smoking is just bullsh**. Weed isn't one of those drugs where you smoke to 'forget' about your life. I guess it can be if you literally smoke it everyday, and make your life dependent on smoking - but if you smoke once in a while its really not like that at all. Im sorry, but I just don't like people giving out false information on something like that.

I think that when somebody says "no homo" every other line they're a bit insecure about their heterosexuality........

All my grandparents are dead, I didn't resort to weed to feel better, I got help when I needed it from my family. But it is your choice, so go for it.

Aren't teachers usually lenient with deaths in the family and allow makeup work?

It's not like I'm addicted.. Well, at least I hope I'm not. I smoked with a couple of kids after school at a local park. We had three different blunts in rotation. I was the last one to get high because I have tolerance now.BTW, I do realize that smoking won't make me any smarter. I don't really have problems with keeping my grades up. It's just this one class that's holding me down really. I'm usually able to do all my assignments, though.Today, when I got high, I couldn't tell whether or not I was dreaming. I mean, everything seemed so surreal. It was a crappy feeling.I'm not going to continue smoking to get rid of the pain. I think I'm going to move on. I may cry occassionally, but I can handle it, I guess.

I don't wanna say that smoking's the answer but it'll make you feel better....temporarily at least. I think you should limit your smoking to weekends and don't do it at school. You need motivation and you have to complete all your work you get from now on. Smoking every day will only mess you up, its good at the right times but you still have to get a grasp on everything else in life.
