It's always talked about one way or another every year: Trading the #1 pick. Some teams can put together some great deals together for it, considering what you get the year. What deal(s) would tempt you. Oh and by the way, stay realistic.
I think like the year Lebron came out, the #1 pick won't be traded by whoever gets it. There would have to be some great offers and since it involves a pick(which doesn't equate enough to any contract), ends up making a complicated trade.
short of a top 10-15 player in the league being offered.. I don't seen any team with the pick trading it.this is one of those slam dunk years like when Tim Duncan, AI, Yao and Lebron came out.

If the lottery was today, they would have the 5th best chance at the #1 pick. It's a lottery, anything can happen.EDIT: But on topic, no, I wouldn't trade the #1 pick this year. A guy like Greg Oden is a once in a decade opportunity. Legit 7 foot centers who dominate on the defensive end, have the work ethic like Oden, and have the strength and athletic ability like Oden, you CAN NOT pass that up.
I was saying that if they get their pick this year I don't see them getting a top 3 pick, or maybe not even a top 10 pick next year and that'll hurt the Suns. It'll still be a decent pick though.
^ya'll don't need any high picks anyways, lol.Hell, the Suns need to win like Dallas and SA have done...pick really good, and overlooked players, late in the draft(Josh Howard, Manu, even Tony P was a late pick I think). But NOOOO, you guys get amare high, trade for Barbosa, sign Nash, and now have a lottery pick...grrrr.lol.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>But NOOOO, you guys get amare high, trade for Barbosa, sign Nash, and now have a lottery pick...grrrr.lol.</div>To be fair, they got Amare when they weren't that good. Hence the low pick. Barbosa was picked by the Spurs with a late first rounder. So that's just like a Spurs/Mavs method of picking late. On this pick, you have to be rooting for the Hawks to lose. Even though it doesn't guarantee they get a top 3 pick, the more balls, the merrier for Suns to whiff on no lotto pick.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Pacers trade:Jermaine O'nealJamaal Tinsley 1st round pick (2008)2nd round pick (2009)Celtics trade:Wally SzczerbiakTheo Ratliff1st round pick (2007)</div>Didn't prostix say be realistic?

Also, JO/Pierce would be nice for 2-3 years, but how about Oden instead? That fits much better with this team, and besides - Jermaine can never stay healthy. To think that we'd trade a top 2 pick for a gun slinger and an injury prone star is absurd.

Oden and Peirce would be a great duo - but you don't know how long it would take for that to get you wins. At least with Jermaine you get a pretty much guarenteed top 5 playoff spot in the East.If Jamaal got a tough black (he'd probably listen better to his own race (not racist)) coach on his rear end he would probably become a lot more disceplened and mature.Plus we take on the expiring contracts of theo and wally and you get rid of them.
At this point the only trades that would tempt me for number one pick this year would have to be with a top 3 pick and a Dwight Howard/ Chris Bosh/ Bron/ Wade/ MeloGet my point PFF?

No one would take JO for the first. If you have a chance at a 19 year old center who can be better than David Robinson, defenitely better than JO or a SF who can be a Pippen/ KG prototype, you don't trade for a 29 year old PF/C who hit his prime two years ago and is injury prone.
The Raptors will not be having a 1st. But, Im sure the Suns will be looking to trade one or more of their 3 firsts to stay under the luxury cap and such. The Raps can offer them $ just as other teams have done in the past.Edit: Oh the #1 pick. Naw. That is untouchable. We are talking about Greg Oden dammit.

Jamaal Tinsley is a nice point guard, and Jermaine O'neal is a good power forward, but I'm not sure either would be needed. They already have three young point guards on their team as well as two young players in the post in Perkins and Jefferson. Now add in Oden to that team, and you have a player that is going to be a top player in the upcoming years, and anchor this team better than Jermaine O'neal could. He also doesn't hold the ball for long amounts of time like O'neal has been known to do, which throws off the team chemistry on offense. Add in that Ratliff and Szczerbiak are going to help the Celtics stay under the salary cap with expiring contracts in the upcoming years. I don't see any way that this trade would help the Celtics.
