So he was averaging a little more stats with Shaq then without him. Those are still good stats from Penny Hardaway.</div>There was still a drop off in production, and what showed me the most hurt was his 6 percent field goal percentage drop. That is a HUGE drop in percentage , then you add to it he averaged less points without Shaq, and Shaq was a big part of what made him great.
You know what? Ill just let you think what you think and I'll think what I think that way we can end this. But ill say one more thing. Yes Shaq was a big help for Penny but Penny did really well on his own as well and I strongly believe if he had never gotten injuried he could have still been able to prove that he could lead a team without Shaq...But we'll never know. Same with Grant Hill as far as getting hurt.
Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway was two completely different themes. Sure both were plagued by injuries throughout their career, but Grant Hill was the man in Detroit and pretty much did it on his own. Meanwhile Penny had Shaq on his back and looked really good. Then Shaq left and Penny declined in playing ability and production. He might have done a decent job, but he was not as good looking as he was with Shaq around which furthers my perception that Shaq made Penny look better than he really was. Grant Hill had alot bigger role on the Pistons and had to do alot more on that team than Penny Hardaway had to do for the Magic at any point in his career.
