LaVar Ball; his wife, Tina; and son LaMelo Ball were having breakfast with the UCLA team in Shanghai on Wednesday morning. LaVar and his family are being filmed while in China for the Facebook reality show "Ball in the Family," which was renewed for a second season last month.

LaVar was expected to address the media from his hotel suite Wednesday morning in Shanghai, but he said he was advised by legal counsel not to speak "due to the legal nature of the matter."

As he was leaving the hotel later Wednesday, LaVar said: "I'm going to wait until I get some more intel on what's going on, and then I can tell you what's up."

Asked if he was worried about LiAngelo, LaVar said, "He'll be fine. He'll be fine. Everybody making it a big deal. It ain't that big of a deal."

    ==================================================

..."It ain't that big of a deal"...Is this completely obnoxious ass hat of a parent really serious? ...your Son is being charged with SHOPLIFTING in CHINA!

...sorry, but yeah, it IS a big deal.

Facing a 3-10 year jail sentence in the far east "ain't a big deal" . News flash Mr. Ball if convicted your kid faces some harsh times. Not pretty for American Boys or Girls going to jail in the Far East.

I was going to post this on my board, but it looks like his attorney was able to get through to Lavar that he should not comment about Chinese legal practices.

Whoulda thunk it would take a trip to Communist China for Lavar to shut his yap?

    https://newsone.com/3757629/china-shoplifting-laws-liangelo-ball-arrested-punishment/

If the arrest holds up and the UCLA trio is convicted, Ball, Hill and Riley could face harsh punishment in a country that is renewed for its zero tolerance penal code. Shoplifting in China carries a minimum sentence of three years in prison and a maximum sentence of a decade, according to the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China.

no doubt in my mind they will be found guilty....

I recall reading a good 20+ yrs ago of a Chinese Natl, who recieved the death penalty for simply smuggling in a carton of Marlboro's, he had purchased during a trip over seas....

Always remember that dumbass kid in Singapore who was caught vandalizing. That shit went all the way up to Clinton but the kid was still caned receiving two less strokes than originally ordered. And then there is my old buddy Nancy Kissell. Dumb bitch offs her husband, rolls him up in a rug, has locals haul him away, got caught and rots in a Hong Kong Jail. I knew a few soldiers myself who got stupid instead of short on their tours and wound up leaving the service the wrong way. We had SOFA standards to live up to and were well briefed so no excuses if you screwed the pooch.

...not sure who are the biggest jerks, the 3 idiots who shoplifted in China, or Trump for tweeting for a "thank you" before the kids even had a chance to make a statement.

    ...can't make this shit up.

...I'd really like to see UCLA make a stand and make a statement by expelling all 3 players.

    > There's always a "set up" and this is the prime event to make it so. They uphold Cold and heartless punishment! Three years in China is like 13 years here. This is not a US law system. This is no hayseed town. This is an insane life lesson for them!

...I heard some pundit whining that the punishment in China would not have fit the crime as compared to the US and that is because their culture is so much different than ours...well no shit.

...China does not have anywhere near the crime rate as the US...gee, I wonder why?...maybe the US could/should a page out of China's book and make sentences for crimes much more severe and make prison life more penal...if they did, I guarantee the US crime rate would drastically decrease.

Hell they outsource everything else why not the penal system. Heard the apologies from those three alleged "College Kids:. Poorly written and read as well. They were about as sincere as Hitler apologizing at a Jewish Memorial Service.

I did not agree with Trump interceding but he did end resulting with old Lavar being an ingrate one of the lower life forms. Had Trump let it slide there'd have been two race cards pulled, one against Trump, the other against the Chinese.
