I would say, bring both back if it can be done on the cheap. Neither is worth a very big contract. If they want too much, well, we got Zack and Biggie.
I think Davis is definitely gone, and probably Noah too, but I guess I could see them offering him a very modest contract -- because he doesn't score at all, there are going to be very few takers on the open market.
Vonleh can be re-signed for about what Davis and he make combined. Noah fits the timeline we are building with better than Ed does. IMO it’s not if Caleb is better than Vonleh or vice versa it’s wether Caleb can fill Ed’s role next season.
What? If we lost Davis we'd still have at least two other options behind Nurkic, and that's not counting small ball options like Vonleh and Swanigan.
I don't see much reason to worry. I think we like Ed because he's lunch pail kind of player and seemingly good guy. Blazer fans love these kind of players, but in the end, how much better is he making our team? Whatever it is, I think it could be easily duplicated. Noah, is young with some upside, but we're a 7th/8th seed type team, and teams will not be lining up to pick off our players. Nerlens Noel, re-signed with Dallas for 5 million a year, essentially a one year prove it type deal. I don't think it's inconceivable Noah winds up re-signing with us under similar terms once he tests the market and realizes his value isn't what he expects. Or, the light bulb could go off, and he goes off in the 2nd half of the season. Then he becomes a happy problem. I just don't see much reason to worry.
Just because it wasn't reported doesn't mean offers weren't there. You honestly believe Neil just arrived at that number randomly? 10 million per fell in line with his production at the time. Unfortunately GMs don't have he luxury of hindsight.
Glad you got a few chuckles out of that. You must have missed the multiple trades that happen every year that fans said could never happen. If Meyers plays better this year, his contract is not that large for a big man these days. Even if he just remains the Meyers of the past few seasons, he could be included in a trade with other filler. Olshey has to figure out a way to clear some money from the books by the deadline if he's going to avoid paying luxury tax this season. I'm betting that he finds a way to do it. Meyers may or may not be included, but he's going to have to find a way to cut costs in order to avoid becoming a multi-year tax payer next season.
One rookie has shown not to be NBA ready. The other got a DNPCD last game because the game previous he was in the way of the offense. Relying on rookies who for one reason or another aren't NBA ready, is a recipe for a pink slip. You might be part of the tanking crowd, but I don't fall in line with that thinking. Never will.
I think with the lower increases in cap, expiring contracts will start to gain value again. A team like CLE could really use Ed in the playoffs, while also giving them cap relief. I would do a Crowder for Ed swap if CLE would to consider it.
Yep. That's the only way he's ever gotten anybody. Ha ha ha! You can't be serious. Ha ha! After Leonard turned down the ridiculous $40M, the whole board castigated Olshey for yet another stupid offer turned down. Leonard sucked that year. Everyone said, good, now Leonard can leave and get paid less than half that. Then Olshey gave him even more, $41M!!!! Some Happy-Meal fans should consider checking themselves into an institution.
