ANYONE who thinks that Nurk was the problem last night is a fucking moron.

And anybody who thinks that anyone not named Terry Stotts costed us that game is also a fucking moron.

You should expect Coach blaming, we could be 17-1 and there is are quiet a few vocal posters who would be saying that one loss is on Stotts and he needs to be replaced. I'm not saying Stotts doesn't need to be replaced but from reading this forum last year it shouldn't come as a shock that Stotts will be one of the scapegoats this year regardless if he is the problem or not.

I don't really care what Portland does on the offensive end. Never really have as they're a good enough offensive team to beat anyone.
Defensively however I saw the entire roster standing and watching. Too busy not getting back on defense, not closing out, and letting defensive rebounds hit the floor. Or worse yet, watching a Net get an offensive rebound on a put back.
However I can look past the rebounding. My big issue is watching straight line drives from the Nets out of the pick and roll.
That's on Stotts, that's on the players, that's on the entire coaching staff.

The Nets are a drive and kick team. You better be ready to defend against that, it's not complicated. Close the fuck out, move your feet.
Portland frankly only played well for 6 minutes last night on the defensive end. Rest of the game was utter garbage and it's on the players for lack of effort, and coaching staff for lack of preparation/unwillingness to sit people down.

I just got done reffing, and coaching after it. I saw more effort from middle & high school kids than I saw last night from adults being paid to play basketball.
The entire organization showed up last night expecting to win. 'Oh it's the Nets they suck, we can just go through the motions and win the game NPNP'.
    Fuck that noise.

The only time I'll ever complain about watching the Blazers is when they don't give effort on the defensive end. Last night I had many complaints.
(there is a reason why I hate watching Nards play basketball, he half asses everything and is only into the game when he wants to be.)

Fair enough. Personally, I believe it's kind of hard for your Center to play Defense when he's doing it all alone, and when he's not playing in the 4th.

    But that's just me.

Last night was on Stotts. Not the team. The team has a lot that we should hold them accountable for. However, last night was not one of them.

Nurk was coasting on D, and was told multiple times to correct it, and he didn't. Let's see if he sulks and tries to pout his way out of town again. I really hope he learned his lesson and responds with greater effort and focus this time, not with petulance and victim-whining...

Well you don't call out one player not playing D when other guys on the team playing half ass too. Coaching staff going piss this big guy and sign big ass contract to make Olshey either match or let him go. But Stotts D philosophy it not good with the players he has and he refuse to change up.

We will find out how great a leader that Dame is because it will take him to keep Nurk head on straight.

If Vanterpool is calling Nurk out on defense (which I applaud), is he also calling out Dame and CJ? I haven't heard that yet so until he does that to the biggest offenders, I'm not that impressed.

I saw him call out Lillard during a different game(this year) when Lillard decided pointing and telling his teammates to switch was more important than fighting over the screen.
Other team hit a shot, Vanterpool was instantly up and telling Lillard that was unacceptable. Lillard to his credit was listening and it didn't happen again the rest of the game.

If what you describe is true, Vanterpool should be promoted immediately. X’s and O’s, to me, are less important than a coach who will hold all his players accountable for their effort night in and night out.

I want to say it was in the Memphis game?
I'm not sure. I just know I said towards my tv. 'wtf kind of defense is that'.
Then I was dumbstruck because I saw a coach stand up and start talking to Lillard, with Lillard paying attention.
As that's not something you normally see in the NBA, let alone on the Blazers.
Figured out after the game it was Vanterpool via google. As I don't really know who the assistant coaches of any team are.

It's so simple. Go here, scroll halfway down to the subtitle "Offensive and Defensive BPM," and enjoy!

I'm also still waiting for Nurkic to back up his "I think this team can be a bad boy team" comments.
