I don't blame Stotts for the end of game failures. Dame and CJ simply have missed or turned the ball over too many times on game deciding possessions. Dame's "clutch" statistics are actually worse than his regular statistics, meaning he's anti-clutch. Maybe the team just sucks and there's nothing Stotts can do about it, that's possible. Blazers haven't earned the right to say what record they "should have". They've played .500 during the easiest part of their schedule. They finish below .500 without a doubt if they play like this the whole year.
Lillard has played for one coach for his entire professional career. A coach who, from Day 1, has let him run the team and basically do whatever he wants with very little accountability. Sorry if I don't take him as an authority on a subject he has so little experience with. I seem to recall Roy had a very similar opinion of Nate. At least until Nate dared to give 'Dre a little bit of a role with the team...
If this was a regular business the CEO would say: "Oh, so you're the problem? that's very big of you to take responsibility like that. Now grab your things, you're fired".
What a dumb comment by Dame. So anyone who thinks the Stotts is at least partially out fault for the crunch time stagnation of the offense doesn't know a damn thing? Insulting a big part of the fanbase by saying that. His words have been empty as fuck lately. "We can't keep playing down to teams", then everyone else plays down.. But Dame has something to say about the fans? For fucks sake.
Yeah, just insults the fanbase in the process.. We're a smart fanbase. We can at least tell what kills us in close games, but apparently Dame doesn't think we do.
If the fans take it personally, that's on the fans, not Dame. Dame has every right to say it, to back up his coach. I applaud it and am glad he did it. I still think it's a lot of stotts fault, though. Partially on late game execution (not calling a timeout at the end of the game with the last shot.. he's done that twice just this year), a lot on just not being an adjustable coach.
Well it just saying that Dame won't throw his coach under the bus like some super star have in this league and I am commend Dame for that it his views. But that not going to stop fans expressing there views neither.
He has a right to say it, as much as i have a right to say what I think is wrong with the team. No reason to feel insulted by him.
This. He’s always loved stotts. That’s why when the fire stotts subject comes up I hesitate. You get rid of him, you create a big issue with dame and possibly cj too. The players seem to really like him. Fact is. We are still over 500. Yeah the kings and Brooklyn were bad losses but for the most part he’s right however I do see the points of people on here about stotts. That lineup he put in was straight random and with moves like that I question him at times
I think he has a point tbh. Look at the Clippers & the Bucks game. Coaches put the players in a position to succeed in both of those games, the players didn't execute. Frankly in at least one of those losses(to the clippers) it looks as if the coaches weren't even heard. Now this has been an issue dating back to at least 16-17 season where coaches aren't being heard late in the game. You could put that on the coaching staff and they should get some heat. But I think what Lillard is saying, it's not on the coaches alone.
