I think the 5th seed is out of reach for now. You just need to worry about finishing the season strong, and challenging the Spurs in the first round. (Or the Suns if you fall back to 7th, but Kobe knows what to do)

This is bad for the lakers. They have a MUCH better chance against Phoenix than the Spurs. For some reason they play really well against short run and gun teams, but the spurs would rape them. I don't think they'd beat Phoenix, but they'd have a shot.

I don't agree with that at all. I think they have just as much a chance at beating the Spurs as they do at beating anybody. The Lakers may not have the teams the had during the title years but both Phil and Kobe remember what it takes to beat Greg Pops San Antonio Spurs in the Post Season and I think they could pull it off if they came to play in every game.

Upsets can happen its happend before and there's no reason why it can't happen again. It's like back in 1991 when Dikembes Denver Nuggets took on Shawn Kem, and Gary Paytons heavly favorited Seatle Sonics. Nobody expected Denver to win the series but they did. The 8th seeded New York Knicks making it all the way to the finals and losing to....well the Spurs lol. Thats just a few examples of many.

So they're 2-1. Let's just hope Utah can move up.

I think Pestilence is right. I'm glad that the Suns don't play the Lakers in the first round. They are the most successful team in slowing down the game against us and that would be terrible for Phoenix before San Antonio or Dallas. I hope they move up a seed. Maybe if they get past a pretty good Rockets team they could beat Dallas too. [IMG] Or maybe I'm getting too greedy, this is fine...I don't mind a 2nd round match-up if it means that San Antonio is out.

Any team can beat any team, but there's no reason to get the sixth seed just for the sake of getting the sixth seed when the seventh is a better matchup.
