With Pat becoming a starter, the "5-0-3" lineup is now officially a thing.

I would agree that they are better at developing guards, but that also may have to do with the different development archs of players. Guards usually acclimate and develop faster to the NBA game. Big man often times do not reach they best until about the age of 25, UNLESS they have a Top 5 pedigree (Oden, Embiid, Shaq, etc.) Often times we forget how young Vonleh is. Do I think he's a star? Nope. But I think he has the potential to be a real solid starter that contributes quite a bit to a playoff team by the time he is 25. The Blazers have their weaknesses as a franchise for sure, but player development is definitely not one of them.

This post makes zero sense. The players the Blazers have developed recently (Crabbe, Pat, Napier, etc) are all late 20's-second round picks. Do you know how many of those players contribute AT ALL during their NBA careers? Not many. The Blazers have been drafting in the 16-30 part of the draft for the past few years and are still finding players that can play in the NBA. The players that were contributing before their 3rd season with the Blazers? Dame (#6), CJ (#10), when we get a lottery talent, often times we are getting a player that can contribute right away.

Also celebrating the fact that the Blazers developed Pat while he has only played well in less than 5 games this season also makes zero sense right now, although i wish it does make sense when we check it again end of season.

Olsheys draft history is crazy when you line it up with other GMs. Going back to his clipper run he has drafted Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe, Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Will Barton, Allen Crabbe, and Connaughton. I'd even include Aminu, because despite not really living up to his draft slot, is still a starting caliber player. I mean the only guy he's really missed on is Leonard. Makes me feel good about Collins and Swanigan.

I thought Pat looked like shit at the start of the season, especially on defense, so it's nice to see him improve a bit overall.

I still think he's pretty limited and is strictly role-player material, but at least he has been playing within himself and seems to understand his place on the floor, which is about all you can ask of second rounder.

Sure this might just be Dame being Dame and being positive and complimentary about a teammate, but is he also taking a dig at someone else? :gasoline:

"Lillard called Connaughton "the MVP" of the trip.

"It's not a fluke," Lillard said. "I think that's what I like the most. This is who he is. He's going to go out there, he's going to take the right shots, you know he's going to be in the right spots defensively, he's going to be a great teammate. He's going to do what the team needs him to do. We've got a lot of confidence in him, from our coaches to everybody on our team. We just know what we're going to get from him. I think the more time he's out there, the more you guys are going to see how capable he is. And he's been huge for our team."

Olshey is an amazing talent evaluator which is perfect to have for a mid size market like ours

Irrelevant, if the player finally succeeds on another team. It makes sense to me what he said. If Stotts can't develop a draft pick into a tradeable asset by the time his rookie contract ends, then Olshey should have traded that pick for an experienced player.

In their 2nd years, Crabbe got a lot of minutes and Connaughton didn't. Because Olshey kept Crabbe. We don't want to be the league's development team.

Pat is a restricted free agent when his contract expires, Crabbe was a restricted free agent. You want the Blazers to develop these guys into stars their first two years? Give a fucking break. Some of you "fans" are fucking unbearable.

This is true. You don't know how a young players is going to turn out. Starter, bench contributor, tradeable asset, Europe...... All you can do is try to identify their potential as soon as possible and continue to develop them. Your assistants have to do something, they might as well earn their money working with all the young players in trying to develop them.
