Hey dviss. I don’t really love you over on the Blazer forum. Thought you came across a little strong. That being said. If you find yourself dealing with racists who are ignorant to what’s going on in the real world right now, and with people who are unwilling to admit fault with people who are so clearly wrong and evil (trump), and can’t understand how you feel the way you feel after decades and decades of being slighted and discriminated against - not just you but your family many generations above you - I would say don’t waste your time and energy and emotions on people like this. And maybe it’s worth it to you - it gives you an outlet. In which case then keep it up. Just know that there is a % of the population that is not going to change and don’t want to change. They are truly a lost cause. They do not represent everyone. Thank god. Just my two cents.
Mostly going back pre-Trump, there are four frequent posters whom I fully and totally believe are racist. One is not a Trump supporter usually but the other three are. Just because people post here doesn’t mean they are angles. I think there are many posters here who frequently support Trump, like @BrianFromWA who I believe is very fair, smart and has never given me any reason to think he is racist. Then there are many posters like @bodyman5000 and 1 or @PtldPlatypus who don’t support Trump but does take an individual look at each topic and often a particular view may coincide with Trumps, or @dviss1 or a totally unique take. Point is, there are many on this board who are not racist, but there certainly are several who sure as fuck are, and to deny that or overlook that is damaging. I am purposely not naming the 4 who I believe wholeheartedly are racist because that would not do any good. I also believe there is a huge swath of posters who aren’t racist.
@dviss1 is the most racist person I’ve encountered on this forum. He doesn’t want equality, he wants to bitch and complain about how he’s being oppressed by white people every day. He hates all white people because of things. He refuses to accept anything other than his narrative. This forum is his outlet to whine like a bitch, because if he said this shit in real life, people would laugh at him. I had seen that twitter profile picture of Shaun King before. I had no clue who he was, but I always thought. “Who is this little bitch ass white cuck, and why do people keep retweeting his stupid shit?” That nerdy little white kid is obviously white, and he looks exactly like his dad, and he is refusing to take a dna test. But dviss will not accept this because like I said, he will not accept anything that doesn’t fit his narrative.
I agree with this. But also, not everyone who disagrees with you on the context of a situation doesn't increased racism, or doesn't agree with you on most other situations. Let's not try to generalize people based on how they interpret unique situations. That's the problem I had with Dviss here, acting as if anyone who didn't agree with his view here was extremely wrong.
Dude... No. Dviss is a great dude. He has his faults in not easily accepting other viewpoints on situations, and he too easily takes away from unique viewpoints (based on experiences that hes had which I (being a white male) will never be able experience) by acting as if those who don't have those experiences have no validity in their opinions. However, his viewpoints and his experiences need to be listened to with an open mind, because there is a disconnect that can be bridged by just attempting to understand the different views others have. You're complaining about him not doing so, but also classifying his views as "bitching" and as an "outlet to whine". It's hypocritical. Also, don't belittle his viewpoints by generalizing the reaction he would get if he shared them. I'd love to have on open conversation with Dviss about his views even if I heavily disagree with them. I would certainly not laugh at him.
for what its worth, I think Trump is a racist and this is one of many examples. However, I also see how someone can view this in isolation and not screen racist. most of the things Trump does that I find racist are things that peek over the racist line but if someone wanted to interpret the action using only the most optimistic views i see how they could see it differently. However, in aggregate I see only one legitimate conclusion, and thats that Trump is a racist.
I guess that's just me but if people are advocating the notion that calling her Pocahontas is not racist, then they are wrong through and through.
He's the richest man in history, if there were nuke codes in his day I'm sure he would have had access to them.
I think people got more outraged about this than Trump letting the pipeline thing go through. People's priorities are all out of wack.
You're saying he had racist intent when he said it. Could you see how it may not have racist intent behind it?
Haha.. Where'd you get this quote? It doesn't apply to what were talking about nor does it make much sense. This isn't a discussion whether people were hurt or not. This is a discussion as to whether this comment is an example of Donald Trump being racist. Theres a difference between racial insensitivity and racism. This thread is using a situation of racial insensitivity to claim racism. Someone can definitely appear as intolerant when their being racially insensitive, and it's a justifiable opinion. However, it's hard to tell if words from someone's mouth are coming from a place of ignorance (racial insensitivity) or intolerance (racism). "Bigotry" is the intolerance of differences. I don't see how being ignorant to the hurtful effects your words can have means that you're intolerant of others differences. Both things are bad, and racism and racial insensitivity are both hurtful, but they're not the same. Racists definitely try to pass off racist intent by claiming innocence (basically, that their racially insensitive and ignorant). This blurs the line between the two, and creates a situation where those who truly are racially insensitive (there's a lot of ignorant people out there) are viewed as racists, even though they're not prejudiced. Sometimes one may say something they feel is harmless to a significant other that is actually hurtful to them, of which the speaker is ignorant/insensitive to the effects and possible interpretations of their words. That doesn't make the speaker intolerant of their partner...
If in person, he tries to tell me that I’m not allowed to do something because of the color of my skin, I will laugh at him. Then do it. If he tries to tell me that Shaun King is black, I will laugh at him. Then remind him of who his parents are. Most of the shit that he says on here, if he said it to me in person; I would bust up laughing.
