Look past the W's. In this streak they've played Portland, Minnesota, Memphis, the Hornets, and the Warriors. None of these teams are playoff teams and for 4 of the games Kobe was unconscious. Yet the Lakers never won a game by more than 7. Before this streak there was the 7 game losing streak where they didn't play a decent game for half a month. Realistically they haven't had a good win since the end of February when they beat the Jazz in Utah. I know a win is a win but you'd like to see them show a little bit more out there since the playoffs are less than a month away. If they play like this in the postseason they'll get swept out.
I disagree. Their defense has not been the greatest but the team's passing has improved with Luke and Lamar coming back. Turnovers were a big factor why GS was still in the game last night, but that doesn't happen all the time. Actually, turnovers have been down lately besides last night and rebounding has picked up considerably with the return of Lamar and Kwame. (Kwame is out tonight though) The games have been close but the Lakers have a history of playing to the competition..ugh...but they ARE Wins and that covers up alot.
The defense has been atrocious and the offense has been okay. For the first few games the offense ran mostly through Kobe. They've been playing bad defensive teams so they've been able to get points off of that. But they need to shape up for when they're met with some competition.

I changed my mind. As I am watching tonight's game...wheather they win or lose they are playing like sh*t indeed. Kobe is having a very off night, I guess it balances out with his past games recently.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KobeBryant_24 @ Mar 27 2007, 09:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Were WINNING thats all the matters</div>No it isn't. Because in that 5 game winning streak they were barely beating bad teams. They're not gonna be playing bad teams in the playoffs so they'll have to start playing better.
Smush... he's the piece of crap on this team.If we'd start Shammond or Farmar over him we wouldn't be having this conversation
You can't put all this blame on Smush. I mean he didn't play well and choked at the end but everyone collectively played bad. Even Kobe. Smush doesn't deserve all the blame.

Smush sucks but he's the best option at this point. Shammond is more of a shooter in a PG's body and Farmar hit the rookie wall midseason and never recovered.
