am going to start off by saying the Celtics have all the pieces in place to be a dynasty in a few years...Fine...Lets just watch the kids we have grow and trade Paul...People like MJ said about the Bobcats, they are six years away from contending...I feel like the Celts if we truly want to be as good as we all want them to be and contend for titles, its time to move Paul on and completely rebuild...We all love Paul, and while he still has something in the tank lets trade him...As much as people love Oden, he's not even the best 7 footer in college basketball...Let alone the best 7 foot freshmen center...The man who is, is Spencer Hawes over at Washington...The kid is tremendous offensively...Can shoot from 18 feet out with no problem, can use both hands down in the post and is a tremendous passer...The kid is savy and a smart player...I don't know if hes coming out this year or next but I personally think he will be better then Oden...That my view, everyone has there own opinions...For arguement sakes, Hawes comes out in 2008 that would be great...We will have the T-Wolves 2009 First rounder...Which doesn't really help now but I can see KG moving on from Minny and McHale isnt going to last there too long...That wcould be a tremendous tool for us in our rebuilding process...If we have the #1 or 2 pick...TAKE DURANT...He's 6-11 and by far is the best freshmen I think any of us have seen in a very long time...Granted the NBA's new rule has taken players like LeBron, Kobe, Amare, etc from the college ranks but Durant is simply amazing...If we deal Paul, there is no other way around it...WE NEED TO ACQUIRE FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS EITHER IN THIS YEARS OR NEXT YEARS DRAFT...And not just some first rounders...If we deal him this year we need to look at top 10 picks...Top 10 players this year we could look at Hibbert, Conley JR.(I dont care we have 3 pg's on the roster...Rando is the only one I'd consider keeping)...Horford, Green look to be #3, and 4 overall but you never know if these guys can slip...If we look to get picks next year you can see possible underclassmen in Darrel Arthuer, and Julian Wright both of Kansas, Darren Collison, Hasheem Tahbeet(I'm a huge UCONN fan and I'm not a huge advocate of him at all...)Artem Zabelin of Russia, (I dont know much about him, none of us do, but from what I've read he has talent), and of course Hawes...There is plenty of potenital at the top of the draft boards the next few years and if we do deal Paul and completely overhaul the team for youth then we are looking at another top 3 pick in next years draft...In a perfect world in 2008, Hawes stays in school and declares...I'd say without hesitation if we deal Paul we are going to be getting a top pick...I know its all speculation on many things...Plenty of teams would look at acquiring Paul...Phoenix will have Atlanta first rounder, and yes they have Marion but I highly doubt D'Antoni would turn down Paul Pierce...Portland has an extremely young talented team they are building and Pierce would be a great addition to Randolph, and LaMarcus Alridge...Them 2 with Roy, Pierce, and a good PG that would be a hell of a team to look out for...Seattle is expecting to lose Rashard Lewis, and I'm not sure if the team wouldnt mind giving Ray Allen some firepower to replace Lewis..Chicago- They have Deng and Gordon but you always hear they are looking to add a legit scorer to the club...That's just possible trades with teams that would have top 10 picks this year...I just beg and hope Ainge doesn't mess up and actually rebuild like I hope he plans to...Entering the 2008 season I wouldnt be upset at all seeing this team come outC-Hawes(our 2008 first round pick)PF-JeffersonSF-DurantSG-GreenPG-RandoAnd who knows what help we could add to the roster with Pierce being dealt...Any input is welcome
You lost all credibility when you said that Spencer Hawes is better than Greg Oden. No need for me to read on, I can tell that you have a low basketball IQ. GMoftheFuture? Please change your username, you clearly don't have the IQ to be a GM.
I cant wait for Mr. Hibbert to school Oden this weekend...should be fun...pop in a game of Hawes this season and you will understand how good he really is...
Well a very young and talented team would improve much faster if they had an experienced all-star leading the way. Imo Pierce should only be dealt if the deal involves a very nice young talent and a draft pick, maybe an Iverson type deal.
great post!!the Celtics TOTALLY need to get younger. I mean 9 of the 15 players on the team are in their third year in the league or less expericene. (with a tenth in their 4th year)why have any veterans to show them how to play in the NBA at all!let's go out and sign that 9th grade free agent. All the celtic fans will sleep better at night having a team entirely made up of players under 21. None of them will be able to drink and drive and get in trouble OR play hung over!!we definitely need Spencer Hawes, he's next in line of talented versitale big white men who flourish in college then EXPLODE with athleteism in the NBA.He's following in the footstep of Todd McCullough! he's a surefire can't miss player!we sooo have to trade away Paul, it's worked so well for teams in the past to trade away their best player. Ask the 76ers, they've done it twice now! Check out their successful history over the past 15 years! Look at all the rings they Lakers won after trading Shaq! oops, sorry had wipe the sarcasm off my chin.

The problem with trading Pierce is his trade value is probably at the lowest point in his career right now. He looks out of shape and is coming off a horrible injury, he's still playing well, but we're not going to get great players for Paul when the guy has admitted to playing on a bum foot and has to drain his elbow 5 times a week. Also I agree with CelticsBalla, Spencer Hawes ie better than Oden? Jesus christ kid have you watched any college basketball? Plus Pierce is so valuable to this team's success. Just look at what happened without him this season. We'd be a near .500 team if he didn't go down with an injury.
GMofthefuture is a true and total moron. I mean Yeah everyones got opinions but this is dogshit.Hawes and Hibbert >>> Oden ?????ANd about Durant, I would not draft him at 1, I would take the best big with Oden and have the scariest frontcourt in awhile with Oden and Al J together. I mean say you draft Durant and trade Paul, youll get nothing for Paul. That just gives them what they had before only a tall version of Paul in Durant with no more bigs like what Oden can have. We already got a go to guy, lets focus on the true bigs huh?
