Re: The Sun's postseason future... Everybody this year was talking about the suns being the best team since the Showtime Lakers, and for the most part I believed them. However as the season progressed, Dallas established themselves as the best team in the NBA. Anyways, the Suns postseason as follows: (Taken off DTP's bracket thread) Suns vs. LakersIf they win:Suns vs. SpursIf they win:On to whoever else makes it to the WCF.Let me start off by saying that the Lakers and most most defintely the Spurs will not go down without scrapping until a game 6 or 7. My questions is can the Suns pull it off? First off, far be from Kobe to score 300 points if he has to beat the Suns this year, but he will, so the Suns will have Kobe on their hands. Then, no one udnerrates the Spurs, so the Suns have their whole plate full for the whole postseason, will they even get past the first round? Thoughts please....
Re: The Sun's postseason future... We are actually set to play Denver right now I think, but we are put in a very tough position. If the playoffs were to be set like that I'm not sure if we'd pass the 2nd round, much less get to the Finals. Three 7-game series would be brutal. But since they are going against Denver it shouldn't be as bad, but they NEED to finish that in 5 games if they want any chance of winning it this season. I think they could because Denver will try to play up-tempo, but they have a great team so it'll take some luck. I hope Kobe can give the Spurs a big challenge and Houston maybe gives Dallas some trouble. Boy...I wish we could play Houston in the later rounds. That would be a dream match-up for Suns fans.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... Unless the Lakers slump again and Denver moves up into the 6th seed, the Suns will be playing the Nuggets. I'd rather see a Suns - Lakers rematch, although it would also be really exciting if they played Denver too. Fast paced, offensive basketball folks...
Re: The Sun's postseason future... Wait a minute. Anyone who ever said this year's Suns were the best team since showtime should get tested. Not only would the Bulls, Rockets, and Lakers of the 90's and early 00's mop the floor with them, they weren't even the best team in the league.

Wait, the Rockets team that should've lost to a worse Suns team, but won because of Barkley's partying and lack of work ethic?...Nevermind... He's talking about that article a couple months ago.Edit: Wait he said everybody...not even bigtime Suns homers have mentioned being better than Showtime now...I'd love to see a Suns-Lakers rematch...in the WCF.

At this point getting out of the first round is gonna be an accomplishment.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... Yeah, dude, the Suns are not the best team since the Showtime Lakers. It's funny that you should say that because the '96 Bulls are the greatest team EVER.

Re: The Sun's postseason future... I dont think anyone here has said that Phoenix is the best team since Showtime Lakers, rather they have said they have the most potent, efficient, and exciting OFFENSE since the Lakers of the 80's. That I will agree with and dont think anyone here would agrue against. The league in the 90's was dominated by great defensive teams and the league didnt score as many points as it did in the 80's. Since the showtime lakers of Magic and Kareem, there hasnt been an offense that has been as exciting as the Phoenix's.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... The Suns will have a VERY tough post season. Denver is the only team that can run with them for just about the whole game, and with 2 great finishers, the Nuggets can beat just about anyone. Spurs will push the Suns to 6 or 7, and then they will have the Mavs in the WCF, which will be a 6 or 7 game series. If they give the starters some rest late in the season, aren't afraid to put in some bench players in playoffs, and learn to utilize Amare to conserve energy of everyone else...they won't be burnt out and can get to the Finals.

They were doing it in a more defensive oriented time as well.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... ^Heck, if you want to bring up the Kings, who played a more pass happy, share the ball, type offense, you have to bring up the Dirk, Nash, and Finley Mavs of the early 2000's too. LOL.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... I have been saying all year that if the Suns and the Spurs meet each other in the playoffs, that the Spurs are going to take them down. I just think that the Spurs play well against the Suns. Even when the Spurs played them earlier this season and lost, they were beating them for alot of the game AND they were playing pretty damn bad as well. They shot terribly when they were wide open, and the game ended up being alot further of a margin than it should have been. I think the Spurs would beat the Suns, but even if they do beat the Spurs, I dont think they could get past the Mavericks....The Suns arent going to make it to the finals.

Suns are better defensively, and Spurs are older, slower, and not as deep as they were in 04-05. I just don't see them beating the Suns in a 7 game series, although if they did I wouldn't be too surprised.

I will take the Spurs who are still good, who have been playing great as of the last 20 games, and who know how to win in the playoffs.

I don't understand what you mean by 'proven team'?
Re: The Sun's postseason future... I think it's too early to compare Dallas or Phoenix to any great teams of the past. Both teams are fun to watch & perhaps the most exciting teams in 10 years, they're not in the same league as the older teams.Until they prove they can win in the playoffs and finals, they're nothing. All of the great teams being mentioned won the championship, so until it happens, neither team should be compared to the greats of old.
Re: The Sun's postseason future... He means beating teams that have proven something in the playoffs themselves, but I don't think it matters. The Suns have beaten some good teams and have done so with some big injuries. They have playoff experience so I don't see that as a factor at all. All the players on the team have played in the playoffs a ton of times(most of the rotation players have been there 3+ times and most of them have went deep in the playoffs) so it won't really matter.
