I get wanting to help give our guys a shot, but how does it make sense to vote for players (e.g. Chief and Ed) who clearly are not All-Star material, when we constantly bitch about big market teams getting guys in who don't deserve it, simply because they have more exposure and a bigger voting pool? Just because our undeserving guys don't make it, doesn't make our efforts to get them in any less ridiculous.

who said the allstar game makes sense? I voted the full on homer ballot...big deal...it was fun. Chief and Big Ed are no scrubs in the west...say what you will..I think my list is the best of the Blazers roster...go ahead and vote for Curry and Harden if you want...it won't change Portland's access to free agents either..a vote for CJ is a vote against Lonzo Ball

Obviously should be Harden instead of CJ, but I acquiesced to the Blazers' request in order to get a follow back from them.

I dare not ask your voting method when it comes to politics...

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

you're honestly comparing the allstar vote to a political election? I dare not ask when you lost your sense of humor....try talking about the game and don't make me your problem....life is not just solution and problem by the way...it's situation problem process solution...try getting past phase 2 eh?...I voted...did you?

Absolutely. They're just varying degrees of irresponsibility. People always justify such decisions in terms of their vote not being the deciding factor, but multiply enough people voting with their heart and not their head, and you get bad outcomes. Then they try to flip it on the person calling them out by making awful assumptions.

I just posted my vote...and yeah....allstar games are never determined by my vote...ever...my guard votes take away Lonzo Ball votes and Blake Griffin votes...Jeremy Lin was not an allstar caliber winner...neither was Kobe his last time...vote for whoever the hell you like...I started the thread to see who people voted for..this ain't the Olympics...it's a popularity contest

my assumption is that you take the allstar game way too seriously....it's never been a poll for basketball excellence...it's always been a popularity contest..if you were talking team USA....I'd agree with you here but the allstar game is like the Oscars....ridiculous competition of apples and oranges but in the end...a popularity contest.

I emphasized the significant portion. ;)

My objection is people voting irresponsibly and simultaneously bitching about it being a popularity contest. Pot...kettle...black.

The "popularity contest" complaint is usually over varying degrees of deservedness, other than glaring examples of injured players being voted in, not complete mockeries of the process like what you were boasting of in the first post. If you feel it's enough of a sham to vote that way, then why bother partaking in the form of either voting or watching?

Any chance that Steph Curry doesn't make the All-Star game since he has missed 12 games and counting? Probably not since he will be voted in by the fans right?

But Kawhi Leonard shouldn't be there right? He just came back a couple games ago.

CJ getting into the ASG would only make him think what he's doing is working for the team. That's my fear.

Uh CJ is not going to get in when Dame can't even get in. But Dame should be in. He has deserved it this year (this would be a bigger snub then any other time he was left out and unfortunately it probably happens).
