0 steps for me. I lost my father at 12 to scerosis of the liver because he was an abusive alcoholic. My mom worked 2 jobs, and I am an only child. Private school wasn't even on the radar Same goes for a free tutor There weren't cell phones when I was a kid, but our utilities were turned off several times. I always had to pitch in for bills. I picked strawberries as a kid to earn money I worked all through college to go along with financial aid And there were countless times I went without eating before I started working as a 15 year old at Vans drive in on Sandy blvd In high school my mom turned to alcohol, and pretty much checked out for several years, but you know what......you have to overcome shit like that. Just like those kids in the back of the line have done.
I was thinking about this last night. How my one stereotype comment made me a racist but this guy that made this experiment used multiple stereotypes to prove his point. He knew by asking those questions that he would seperate a majority of whites and blacks. What he really failed with was that the questions have more to do with being poor or well to do growing up. Certainly there is a higher percentage of black house holds who are living in poverty than whites. I wouldnt argue that. But these privileges apply to the upper middle class and the rich. I remember immortal technique saying he has more in common with poor white people than rich black people and i would agree. Classism is the issue. Then the guy says another stereotype when he says the black guys would win a fair race. Why? Because black people are fast and better at sports? The guy that made this video is more racist than any poster who responded because he blames all their short commings growing up on them being the stereotypical poor black person. And then he has the audacity to feel like by telling someone to give the $100 to a black person, he's no longer racist because he has purchased their affection. Fuck that guy.
