If you are in Brooklyn, The William Vale has a sick rooftop with views of Manhattan. Reserve a table for drinks outside on the deck. And of course try to get to Peter Luger steak. Also love the Artichoke Pizza out there. The original Halal guys is dope its near MoMa the chains they have around are not even close. Hotel lobbys are cool, the classic ones.
I haven't seen Avenue Q but its supposed to be dirty and funny. Kinky Boots also is supposed to be great. I think I may see that when I am there in 3 weeks. We once did an audio walking tour of "old NY". It was great. I heard that AirBnB has a new thing - where locals create local experiences for you. That sounds fun - https://www.airbnb.com/s/experiences
Anything with a view is going to get my vote. That looks great! And I love halal! I hate that this is in May, I'm excited right now! lol.
Audio walking tour? Hmm... interesting. And yeah, they do experiences, but I think I'm just going to enmesh myself and sort of just create memories... I may look at the experiences as ideas, but really want to just explore all day each day I can. And yeah, AQ is dirty as hell. I saw Kinky Boots on the broadway site... but I feel like going classic... we're also seeing a theater play as well. Uma Thurman has a new one that seems fairly interesting. Plus it's Uma Thurman.
You should spend a day checking Jersey City, Hoboken and upwards in West NY New Jersey (actual town) admiring the palisades, architecture and beautiful parks. Jersey is just as cool as NY.
Given that Jersey City is so close to manhattan and all that, and MUCH cheaper... I'm m0st likely buying my airbnb there and taking the subway in on exploration days. So there will definitely be some exploration.
Unless it’s changed in the last 15 Years, I really liked that place. I used To train on in from shallow upstate near the pa/nj border and then spend half the day in Hoboken before heading into the tunnel there.
Skip the empire state building, instead go up the Rockefeller center building. Its cheaper, the lines are shorter and you get a good view of the empire state building. Dont stay near times square, we made that mistake and hated it. I know its close to your broadway shows, but you will be better of ubering there. The times square area is a mad house. Staton island ferry gives a great view of the statue of liberty and is much cheaper and less crowded than going to see the statue of liberty. The high line is just awesome, we absolutely loved taking strolls on it.
Don't forget the 9/11 memorial/museum I was there in 2005 before there was any kind of museum. It was rough. My girlfriend was there in September. It's changed a ton (obviously). I'd really like to go back and see it now.
The Oculus at the WTC is pretty nice. Its a Calatrava designed building which is a mall, but the architecture is great. (Its where the PATH train drops you off from New Jersey). Cheesy as it is, I got a kick out of the Charging Bull/Strong Girl shit near Wall Street. Pretty crowded so go early, it was cool to walk Wall Street to the NYSE etc.
