Oh, I forgot you're Mr. False equivalency. If that doesn't fail, you'll fall back on the dictionary being racist. I got shit to do, was just killing time while my plastic filler dries.
I already said the grocery one. I still prefer making the garbage man drag my cans to the curb. I'd prefer he waits until I get in my car to go to work every Friday so I won't have to be bothered.
I'll check back later when I'm at the gym. Maybe they'll hire a guy to change the plates for me or adjust my seat on each machine.
True, but the former part is "We're still using as much or more refined gasoline as ever". The latter was just a tidbit of info. The equivalency is still false and it's still a person losing a job that they had. The price of gas has NOTHING to do with the attendant's pay so the bolded isn't true.
Somebody is going to pay for this guy's salary. I can assure you that it is passed down to the customer via gasoline prices.
Gas stations that do not set their prices based on expenses + markup will not be in business, that's pretty much true for any retail establishment - the owner has to figure out what kind of margins he is willing to live with - and prices will reflect that. To get these margins - true expenses need to be considered - and the attendant salary is part of the expenses - there is no magical free attendant expanses dust in commerce. You can argue that it is not a huge impact on the prices - and you might be right - but the impact is there.
"So this isn’t IN Portland? Just hillbilly areas?" Geez this is an ignorant take! Portland verses Hillbilly areas? Is this for real?
My grandfather had a dayjob as a mechanic for 40? 50? years. Owned his own shop when he remarried. However his daughter(my mother) can't change a tire, let alone perform basic maintenance. My 6'8, 32 year old male cousin can't change a tire, let alone check the oil or wiper fluid on his wife's car. While his sister 25 year old 5'2 110lb girl does all of that on her truck, and more. My biological fathers wife, & mother can't change a tire. I know numerous people of all ages who can't change a tire, or perform basic maintenance on their vehicles. Tis why I said these things aren't new. Nor is it stuck to the 'new generations'. I think sly is far more intelligent than the comment he left. Which is why I said he's better than that.
I think it is most likely more of a modern thing anyway. Cars are reliable and run forever. Tires rarely go flat really. You don't really need to know how to take care of things like that today. You don't get stuck somewhere if you can't. Gardening is one of those same things. My grandfather had an amazing garden. I remember watching him hang off the handles of a giant rototiller when I was a kid. I know the basic idea of gardening but have had no reason to really want to learn it.
