So, nobody who has unofficial power ever loses it? Interesting thesis.

He never had it in the first place. They misplaced, psychotic liberal mindset was convinced that Bannon was the man controlling Trump. Then its Putin controlling Trump.

Neither one really ever did, it was just misguided liberal fantasies.

Yeah, that's your belief. You seemed to think that some proof of that had emerged, but what it is ain't exactly clear.

So you think he was a mysterious shadow president that Trump obeyed his every piece of advice and controlled?

No, though I think he had a lot of influence on Trump. Much like Dick Cheney, who I don't think was the "real President" in the Bush administration, but I think had outsized influence.

I was more asking you why you felt it was conclusively proven otherwise.

Nothing he did showed that he was controlling Trump. Advisors influence. That's what they do. He obviously didn't have that much control over Trump if he didn't last long as an advisor. They had disagreements. Trump is his own man, he's not getting controlled by anyone. Its almost hilarious to think so.

People were making it as if Bannon was the puppetmaster behind Trump and there was some vast left wing conspiracy to make America into Nazi germany.

What it all comes down to is the liberal fantasy that Trump is incompetent, can't tie his own shoes, blah blah blah. Therefore, they invent the narrative that since Trump is such an idiot, there's someone behind the scenes controlling him.

Yeah, the most extreme takes are usually not going to be right, but I think the main idea was that Bannon was the driving force behind Trump's ethno-nationalistic and economic nationalism themes. No one is ever literally controlled by another, but someone can create an agenda for the person who's in charge.

I don't know if that's the liberal fantasy or not, but I think it will turn out to be the narrative pushed by conservatives.

"We didn't realize he was senile, of course it all makes sense now, but we had no way of knowing".

Senility (could happen to anyone!) will be a lot more appealing to conservatives than admitting they supported someone who was out-and-out corrupt.

Anyone who sees any major similarities between Bannon’s views and President Trump’s actions and many significant accomplishments in 2017 has severe cognitive impairment. Anyone who thinks ANYONE is “puppetting” President Trump understands neither politics nor business.

To be controlled you need the ability to focus and more than a 2 minute attention span...so you're right...no one is controlling the great and powerful OZ but pay no attention to the man behind the curtain....we can only hope there's an adult in the room in the West Wing....Trump's not that guy....
