He kills in the G league but he's slow, esp at up on speedier defensive adjustments around the basket. I think once he hit's the weight room, he'd be like a poor man's Randolph. Just a liability on D.

I think Swanigan would have been fine as a late second rounder..... but not the 26th pick in the draft.

He already is very crafty. And I'd use him at the 4 alongside a Center who's a better rim protector

one is a #10 pick and one is #26....pretty simple....one is 7ft tall and the other isn't

So then why isn’t Meyers playing?

Collins is just a better player. That’s the answer.

Meyers did play his rookie year.....Swanigan has several PFs in front of him.....Collins is Stotts rookie in the fire...every year he has one.

Swanigan is the worst PF on the roster. It’s pretty simple. Doesn’t mean he won’t improve, but he doesn’t deserve any minutes right now.

He didn't play enough to get stuffed "all the time."

Rookies get to go up against vets they've never played before...it's a school all it's own...every game is a new challenge....vets know all the players they guard..rookies don't...advantage..vets

He suffers from the same problem Tyler Hansbrough had. He was a skilled guy down low, but just not big or long enough to finish at the NBA level. He has to work so hard for his shots.

Calab has a great back story and is a skilled big man, however he is very limited athletically & is very ground bound.
Virtually any frontcourt player he goes against in the NBA is going to have an advantage down low - simply because they can get get lift off of the ground. His shots where getting stuffed a lot - even by fringe NBA talent.

I was really disappointed with the pick at the time, especially since we'd just just picked a PF/C. Not the best pick for our needs, but what's more worrying is the Blazers brass said they would have picked him at 20.

Swanigan was out of position in offensive sets early in the season.
Stotts pulled him for this reason multiple times, and then Swanigan had dnpcd because Stotts couldn't trust him to be in the right position.
It's pretty simple if you watched the games and saw/heard Stotts' reaction early in the year.

We look so stupid for not taking Jordan Bell with that pick. He was sitting there on a platter. We had all the exposure in the world to that guy.

He hasn't shown anything consistently. Kyle Wiltjer could hit 3s but he's not in the league.

Yeah... I hated the pick too. Olshey has his hits and misses.

Caleb made an adjustment in college from one year to the next and had really good success. He's now putting up really good numbers in a league where he should be putting up really good numbers. I'll give him some time to see how he evolves. I'd rather have had Bell too, but that ship has sailed.....for now.
