Exactly this. If he doesn’t accept...we have a big decision to make. ET, Mo Hark and Meyers Leonard need to go immediately though. That should free up some room for a attempt at Nurk and maybe a decent role player or 2

Agreed. If he gets the max and does not live up to it (No matter what team it is for) the fans will turn on him real fast. Sure I would prefer the max too if I were him, but the added expectations from fans will make his life miserable. But I agree with you.... he will not get the max.

Just out of curiosity anyone know will have cap room who could fuck with us? Although I can't see many doing that unless they strike out on all the other FA's...and are desperate for a center.

Nurkic needs to play more than 27 minutes per game. I don't care if he's a negative on offense sometimes, the Blazers are better when he's on the floor as opposed to having Davis out there. Really don't understand why Stotts staggers his minutes so much but he should be getting at least 30+ minutes per game. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Ed is playing 18 minutes a game and hustles every minute of it. With few turnovers. Nurk plays over 30 in some games, when he is not in foul trouble or when he is not playing poorly. I don't blame Terry for this one. Nurk needs to be more consistent. The Blazers are better when he plays well but worse when he plays bad.

Who says the Blazers a better when he's on the court? We had many Games this year we were much better without Nurkic. To often he kills our offense with his efficiency Post ups

    Nurkic RM is -0.36

    While Ed is a +0.11
    http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/RPM/position/6

While they list Ed as a PF - the RPM statistics is not position specific - so, at least based on this statistics - this is not correct.

Hello to all. This is my first post. English is not my native language so excuse me for the mistakes. I am Almir from Bosnia and of course started to follow your team since Nurk is there. I want to join your conversation, and my posts will be honests without too much love for Nurk when he plays bad -he playes bad. But before anything related to basketball, i really felt that i must reply on post abput lazy Bosnians. This is a real untrue and most ridiculos thing i have seen. I hope that you do not take this as serious. Bosnians are lazy and as well balkans people? The people who work hard for low money? The people who work hardest jobs in West European countries including Germany because Germans do not like that kind of jobs and let them to imigrants from all over the world? Of course underpaid...the people who live in my country with 200 usd dolars per month pay check but are always with smile on faces....it is not fair to speak like this about nations. You can say for somebody that is lazy you have those people on each country it is not the caracter of the Bosnians nor Balkans. Nurk is not lazy. You should see where he started and played basketball and manago to get nba. Many German per example people will never even to try to and train play basketball or any other sport. Only his HARD work. Not lazy work. Excuse me as this is my first post. All others will be related to the topic and this game and your team which i really started to love besides Nurk. For now my favorit players are Lillard and Napier alongside Nurk of course.

Thank you very much! I enyoy to watch Portland even i can't watch every match as you play home matches at 4 o clock in the morning so sometimes is hard to watch especially if i am on early shift at my work. But i have seen many games up to now. It is easier on the east road there as three hours earlier so i manage it litlle bit easier. I really want you to play off and go maximum there. I really like your team and when Nurk is good and you win i am then full happy. Just win as much as is possibile. I will try to write you what our media and fans speak and write about your team. Nurk is our Bosnian best player and many people are watching and following you. We are small nation, young nation and do not have many stars. All the best for all Portland fans.

I don't think we're able to get rid of all 3 without giving up multiple picks/young pieces, and those would probably be just as valuable as a little bit of cap space. We would have our ~$8.5M MLE if we were under the tax, which we could use.

    Actually they do:

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/10740818/introducing-real-plus-minus

RPM stats are provided by Jeremias Engelmann in consultation with Steve Ilardi. RPM is based on Engelmann's xRAPM (Regularized Adjusted Plus-Minus). Play-by-play data provided by Basketball-Reference.com.

    https://www.nbastuffer.com/analytics101/regularized-adjusted-plus-minus-rapm/

The enhancement with the RAPM is a Bayesian technique in which the data is combined with theoretical beliefs regarding reasonable, large data ranges for the parameters in order to produce more accurate models. That is what ridge regressiondoes.

It will require access to large computing power and data sets to calculate it - but the math is pretty well understood.

Even if you do not like this isolated +/- approach, the raw data shows Nurkic at -1.8 per 100 possessions vs +4.5 per 100 possessions for Ed. (Basketball reference).

There is all the reason in the world to play Nurk more than Ed - because there is clear untapped potential with him - where I do not think there really is any more for Ed - but the statistics - either raw or isolated - do not suggest that Portland is better with Nurk on the court overall this year. Given that balancing act, I do not think that there is a real reason to play more of Nurk than the coaching staff already does. They clearly have to walk an interesting tight-rope between development, need to win games and instilling proper habits.
