Autopsy revealed morphine in Halladays system at the time of the crash as per tmz.com Don't know how accurate they are but I will try to find a better source.

Saw that Autopsy Report article myself. My question is why the hell bring it up, the man is gone, remember his accomplishments and let him RIP.

If it was morphine, his family loses the insurance claim. Everyone knows, you do not pilot anything on that med.

I wonder why he was prescribed morphine to begin with?

an A5 amphib flying jet ski, is a highly maneuverable lightweight plane, (like all Scaled Composite aircraft are). One rarely see's pilots flying these AC without high maneuvering, they're built for such. The mindset isn't any different from driving a Bugatti, McClaren et al on the autobahn. But- ...

that being said, this won't define Doc Hallday to me, and shouldn't to any MLB fan. Sometimes this kind of news is better left private; tho' some will say if one life can be saved from this news then so be it, (not my opinion necessarily).

He owned MLB from 02-011 like few did. 2010 was one helluva year for Roy; that's what I'll remember him for, not a scrap heap in t/Gulf. Sad to see good men perish....

great point. there has to be a prescription trail. my FIL just passed after battling pancreatic cancer for 7 months. When hospice came to do death certification, they get all their gear. but also whip out some documents that list all the morphine we were given and they police it all up and have you sign that you did return EVERYTHING.

mind you there are ways around that, and that's why we have the epidemic we have, but no simple solution.

this is a shame, some things the general public just doesn't need to hear. now that poor family has to relive this whole media storm again.

...Halladay was worth over $50 Mil at the time of his death...so I doubt his family is fretting over an insurance policy which may or may not even exist.

You and I share a hospice experience. He slept into a Morphine coma then away. Prior to this point in time, he told me he hovered over his body when in the operating room but got sucked back and then on to this.

...yeah, Roy Halliday was a consummate Pro and well liked everywhere he went and for awhile it was almost unfair for batters to have to face him...we may never know the whole story concerning the chemical levels in his body when he died or even if they had any bearing on the crash...sad story nonetheless.

My sincerest condolences to you Tom, your wife, and her surviving family members...

Cancer is a bitch and the onslaught to depart this planet is never pretty! but you know that better than I... I reckon.
