Something like Shabazz and Vonleh for Hood would do it. Or Davis to BOS (they absorb with their injury exception) for a pick. Aminu and Layman for Crowder gets us closer.
I want someone with a bit of an attitude. Enough of this mentally weak shit. Someone who wants to be a star even if he doesn't have the talent or opportunity to be that.
Mentally tough players, sure. But the bolded is how you get the worst chuckers, players who think they're stars and dominate the ball and shots as if they are one. No thanks.
You realize Dame turns 28 during this season and is only one year younger than Love right? And if you are waiting for Warriors to fall off you will be waiting a long time... definitely more than 2 years. Lillard is in his prime, so if you want to win with Lillard you go for it now and try to beat Warriors... don’t be a coward and say wait for Warriors run to end. Or else trade Dame and get lottery picks that might actually help rebuild 5 years down the road. If you want to keep Dame with team as is and wait out the Warriors then you are on a 10 year plan... no thanks.
Considering what it’d take to get Love I’d rather just let Collins play. He can shoot too, and actually plays defense. Yeah Love is better right now, but next season Collins should be ready for a prime role and we’d be stuck with a depreciating asset no one would want. Oh and Love is only under contract for two more seasons.
Well, that's just it. I'd rather keep Ed and Shabazz. I don't want to trade either of them unless it's for a starting SF. If that's Hood, great. Davis for a pick? I'd rather trade Harkless.
Yeah that is the key for me as well. I am OK with Nurk at center (although he needs to get better-and I think he will) I am good with Collins as the PF of the future, and I happy with Dame and CJ at guards. So anyone else can be traded IMO if it brings back a quality starting SF. But don't include the first round pick unless that SF they get back is a lot better than someone like Hood. (Whom I don't mind trading for, but not with the pick)
Not only that, I'm sure that's what Paul Allen told Dame during there meeting was to be patient because we're not winning anything in the next few years anyway.
I agree that Cleveland would really be making out. I suggest that Crowder go to Portland instead of Frye. And that Cleveland has to give up their Brooklyn pick to Sacramento to compensate for them having to take Leonard and their own pick to Portland.
I actually think Olshey might be trying to trade Nurk for Jordan. I think he has already decided he is not going to re-sign Nurk and needs to act now to avoid losing him for nothing. Olshey does not want to make another signing mistake; he can't take a chance on signing Nurk for 12-15 million a year and then maybe not getting consistency and effort. I think CJ and Nurk should be the guys going out, with hopefully Leonard and/or Harkless also. I don't think we should be trading guys like Davis, Aminu, Napier, Collins and Connaughton. These guys are ballers and all play defense.
BTW, I am not necessarily advocating the Love or Jordan trades, but I do think CJ and Nurk need to go; hopefully we can find good compensation for both.
ET + Biebs + 1st for Wes would free up SO much $$$ now, and in the future, it'd probably be worth it.
I agree! I'm prepared for one of our 3 core players to get traded and I think it will be Nurk. The Clippers will have to take Turner though.
Having a little more trade machine fun. How would this need to be adjusted to make sense for all teams involved? Blazers convert CJ/Aminu/Davis into Love and Middleton. Obviously an upgraded lineup--surely too much so to be realistic. Cavs replace problem-child KLove and unused prospect Zizic into Williams, Aminu, and Davis. Williams replaces Love's scoring, Davis his rebounding and hustle, and Aminu provides comparable 3-point shooting. Davis and Aminu also upgrade Cleveland's defense. Milwaukee adds Jordan's defense/rebounding to their starting lineup at the cost of Middleton and the question mark that is Jabari Parker. They might need more in this deal. Clippers jumpstart their rebuild by replacing Williams with a younger (and signed long-term) SG in CJ, getting a couple other lottery tickets in Parker and Zizic. They would have to hope that Parker and Griffin could play in the frontcourt together. Help me out with this--what other holes exist that I haven't identified? Would the Blazers including Shabazz and/or Vonleh help with any of those? Obviously we're not submitting this to the Blazers FO, but it'd be cool to craft a crowd-sourced deal that actually makes sense.
Understood--although supposedly Middleton/Parker for DJ was a deal being discussed/considered. Would Vonleh and our 2018 #1 coming their way make it better? If not that, what might you recommend to balance it out?
Bucks would need picks if they're giving up two of their best three assets like that and only getting an older guy back who is a possible rental. I think that's a fair deal for us and a great one for the Clippers. Cavs probably don't get much better but may consider it.
