Baldwin looks good. He has some surprising hops. Almost looks like he’s playing in the Slamball league a few times.
Did he sleep with the Memphis owner's granddaughter or something? Why would they give up on him so easily?
Dude just flies to the hoop. Great balance. I bet you could perch a Coke on his head and not spill a drop. Memphis must have thought they owed us for picking up Brooks from under our noses.
I'm definitely not. Napier is better than Barton in every single aspect except for rebounding. Downgrading for the sake of "positional balance" is a very bad idea. Hood I'd be more interested in because he has legit upside. But trading for Barton makes Denver much better and us worse.
Yeah it’s time to give him a look, but who you going to play him over? If Napier is traded though he should be up quickly.
I don’t think Napier is as good of a scorer as Barton. Not sure about the shooting either. Barton attempts way more shots and has more responsibility. Napier’s looks are usually cleaner. Numbers say Barton is a better passer as well. Defensively they’re both good, but one actually plays a position of need and is also versatile enough to defend three positions.
Numbers say Napier is a better scorer. They average the same PPG per 36, and Napier does it much more efficiently. Barton does have 4.7 apg per 38 compared to Shabazz and his 3.9, however i attribute that to DENs reliance on Barton to create more for DEN compared to Shabazz whos always 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) in terms of responsibility to create as he almost always shares the floor with CJ or Dame and sometimes Turner. The eye test certainly says Napier is the better passer. Barton always seemed like an average defender to me. He's quick but weak. DBPM has him as a -0.2, and Shabazz has a 1.0. While Barton is a more versatile defender than Napier, I think Napier is better at guarding his specific position than Barton is at guarding any. It just depends on the teams makeup as to which is more valuable. I like Napier more because he's our only defender that knows how to effectively apply ball pressure beyond 25ft.
Also I'd say Napier is more at a position of need for Denver than Barton is at a position of need for us. And since were competing against Denver, I could definitely see Napier coming back to bite us in the ass like Nurkic did for them. I also don't like Barton guarding SFs. 6'6 and very skinny, I think he'd get exposed down low in the playoffs by guys like George, Durant, Kawhi, Butler, Wiggins, Klay, etc.
Funny you mention George because Barton got a lot of credit for the job he did defensively against him recently. Not going to pretend like I watch him play every game, but I do know he plays bigger than his size.
He does, I just think over the course of a 7-game series, a team would eventually find a way to exploit it.
I wonder what the deal with CJ Wilcox is. He got assigned a month ago and still hasn’t played. He’s been out so long I doubt we see him on an nba court this season.
Swanigan tonight: 18pts (7-11 shooting) 13 rebounds, 2 blocks. Didnt watch but sounds like he played well.
The G league is going to become more and more important (esp. as rules are changed regarding the draft.) We have a number of players there that could have a future. It's only a matter of time before we start another team.
