<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Jordan Farmar played a doubleheader on Sunday, common in baseball but certainly not in pro basketball. The Los Angeles Lakers' rookie guard, who had been struggling and had his playing time cut, played for the Lakers' Development League affiliate in the afternoon, then immediately was recalled by the Lakers for their game against the Sacramento Kings. ADVERTISEMENT Although the minor league D-Fenders lost to the Anaheim Arsenal 109-101, Farmar had a good game, with 18 points, six assists and three steals in 41 minutes. When he entered the Lakers' game against the Kings with 7:38 remaining, he became the first player to appear in an NBA game and a Development League game on the same day since it became the NBA's official minor league system before the 2005-06 season. Farmar had four points on 2-of-5 shooting in the Lakers' 126-103 victory over the Kings. He went into the game with an average of 4.8 points and two assists in 15.5 minutes a game this season. The 20-year-old point guard had not played in four of the Lakers' last six games. Lakers coach Phil Jackson said he wanted Farmar to play for the D-Fenders so he would get in some game action and get his confidence back. Farmar didn't mind. "They (the Lakers' brass) just want to see me get out there and be a leader and get some shots up," he said. "I got to the free throw line and got to see some go down (8-for-8). "I took a couple of shots that felt really good and they went in and out. But the basic idea was just to get me out there playing and get comfortable again so that I can be an integral part of this team come playoff time, if they need me."</div>
I don't really see how this was a big new historical event for the NBA. This however did show why Phil Jackson is being inducted to the hall of fame. Farmar is young and Jackson has not been able to play Farmar alot recently and was worried that he would play with less confidence. So he sent him down to the D-league for a day, Farmar played great, came backup to the Lakers and got some playing time and contributed. Projects like Farmar need to have a decent amount of time if they want to become more than just a failed project. Very smart by Phil Jackson.
I saw this on NBA.com yesterday. I thought it was pretty cool, kinda interesting. CB4 and Farmar, Jew buds
Why does everyone always act like this is a big story? It was all over the internet. It's interesting, but is it really that historical?
This is something only a Laker can do! :happy0144: Naah,, I dont think it's very historical, it's very interesting but I think that some people are overacting a little bit...
