Meyers & Noah would be my guess

Yeah they’re doing Vonleh dirty, I’d be pissed if I were him. Shabazz deserves a bigger role so I wouldn’t blame him either.

Meyers should be counting his blessings.

getting rid of Meyers and Moe should be the priority for Olshey. I know that definitely is easier said than done, but we should be able to find a taker, with the expectation that they send back contracts nearly as shitty. So who’s out there making about $7m that someone would dump on us for Moe or Meyers? That would get us under the tax.

We need the Knicks to keep losing so they give up on their playoff hopes and instead focus on the future. They are currently 4.5 games out of the 8th seed in the East. If they drop to 7 or 8 games by the deadline, something like this works:

    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7pcwsda

This gets us under the tax threshold. We know NYK valued Harkless last summer. Thomas sucks, but has the same number of years left on his contract as Moe and makes $3.5 million less per year. He would be a stretch provision candidate.

O'Quinn is currently a valuable rotation piece for them, but if they give up on the playoffs, he really doesn't serve a purpose there. He will opt out of his contract after this season. So, he would likely be a short term rental. With his aggressive style, elite rim protection and high motor, he'd be a good guy for our young bigs to go against in practice. They might learn a thing or two from him.

Not a needle moving trade, but it moves two guys who aren't in the rotation anyway, gets us out from under Moe's contract, and under the tax threshold, and gets a short term rental of a temporarily useful player in return.

That trade only makes sense if we trade Davis or Aminu as well. That is unless you’re prepared for Collins to lose all his minutes, which I’m not.

I actually don’t hate Thomas. He can at least knock down an open three and is a good defender. I would do Harkless for Thomas and a second.

Nothing says we have to play O'Quinn big minutes, and I certainly wouldn't take away minutes from Collins to play him.

If Davis does get traded, he has value as both a player and an expiring contract, O'Quinn would be his short term replacement (and an actual upgrade). If not, O'Quinn is a short term rental and cheap insurance against an injury. We certainly could have used him last year with both Nurk and Ed out.

Nurkic minutes have been down the last couple games. Just saying.

Well you’re right, but he’s also a better player than Davis, so...

Yep, love Ed, but O'Quinn gives you everything he does, and more.

I’m okay with a trade as long as we don’t give up our draft pick.

Thomas on the NYK. His 3rd year is non-guaranteed

Yeah - almost seems like deliberate suppression of Noah's value/career. It's very peculiar that Terry gave him the starting position when he didn't deserve it, but now that he DOES deserve it he gets DNP. I'd be furious if I were him.

He seems like such a nice guy, but man, they’re fucking with his money. If he isn’t pissed I’m sure his agent is. Either play him or trade him.

Thomas and a swap of 1sts for Harkless. We know(or assume from most reports) that they had interest in Harkless. I don't think his poor play this season would necessarily sour them on him, as I think a lot of GMs probably can figure out when a guy is pouting, or disgruntled, or just envision how they'd look in their offense instead, with a different role on the team. Adds another young piece to their squad, the same age as Hardaway. To land a player they like, they slide down maybe 10 spots in the draft? They're roughly 10-12 right now, we're 18-20.
Also, gets us out of the LT.

    That's being too greedy imo.
    Harkless + Noah for
Thomas + Willy (or KOQ) + Dotson

Seems like a better fit all around

Ya because we need the team to get younger than it already is. I'm sure that's why Dame called a meeting with Paul.

I agree with the lance Thomas idea but if we trade just to stretch another player Neil is done as a gm not just here but in the nba all together. That would be the 4th player we currently are paying to be somewhere else. It would also amount to (I’m estimating here so maybe you can help) 7m in dead money for the next half decade. In terms of gm fuck ups this is the most egregious in my book. He’s used the stretch provision to get himself out of jams over the last 2 years (there have been a bunch) and that number is adding up if he does it again.... he’s done. I would rather have a player at 10m than 7 for a seat on the plane. It’s a tough spot Neil has put us in here but it’s only going to get worse if he compounds it with more dead money.

There is no reasonable trade scenario that will put us in contention. We have to build through the draft.
