My Deadline Wish: 1 trade to get us under the tax line. + 1 trade to get us a rotation player. Neil Grade: Neither: F 1st only: B- 2nd only: B+ Both: A grades can change depending on whether we give or get a 1st rounder.
Might as well trade Dame and CJ for top 5 draft picks then. Sorry but this is just dumb talk. Pretty soon both Dame and CJ will be in there prime and you want to just keep starting over and building from the draft.
Or pay him. How much $ do you think he deserves this summer? If we pay him that then that then maybe we don't fuck him over. I would love to keep him for a reasonable amount if we can move some other players. But right now either way someone is not getting minutes and therefore will not be happy. Collins needed minutes in order to improve and that has worked out. And Aminu has played well too. Yes you can make the case that Aminu should be at SF, opening up some minutes for Noah, but that is debatable with Chief's lack of ball handling skills. I want to keep Davis, Noah, and Aminu for our bench. I agree though that Noah needs some minutes for sure. Good rebounder and defender.
Agreed. I wouldn't stretch him though. His 3rd year is non-guaranteed. We'd be under the tax this year, so it's only the '18-'19 salary that we'd have to worry about. I'd keep him on the roster & just take it in the shorts for 1 year instead of stretching his contract
CJ, Nurkic, Harkless and picks for AD and E'twaun Moore? http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8joaa6a plus picks?
I'm scared it's only going to be a very minor trade like a Vonleh for a 2nd round pick type deal since they're playing better after they heard PA was looking into why they sucked.
I still want to go after Kelly Oubre. Still young but already in the league 2 and a half years. Has all the tools, just needs to hone them, but seems to have the desire and is showing improvement offensively. Link below includes a defensive compilation video and if you click at the end can go on to another part of the series. I would try Nurkic, Napier and Harkless for Oubre and Mahimni (and his terrible contract). Portland could throw Davis in on this trade if they want to shed some more salary. Why does Washington do it? Gortat is 33, they need some youth at center. They need a better backup PG than Tim Frazier. They get rid of Mahimni and get back a decent backup SF in Harkless. Portland does it if they have decided not to re-sign Nurkic, and it balances the roster. Probably would not help them this year but hopefully would in the future, as Collins and Oubre develop and the new team learns to play together. Oubre is still under contract next year so it gives them more time to get rid of Leonard's contract. https://wizofawes.com/2017/10/10/wave-ascendancy-awaits-kelly-oubre-jr/2/
You overestimate both the amount and the length of our stretch provision players. The amount is $5.09 million a year for two more years. The year after that, it drops to $4.76 million and then $2.84 million the year after that. Nicholson = $2,844,430 (four more years) Varejao = $1,913,345 (three more years) Ezeli - $333,333 (two more years) The current $5.09 million total is less than the Tax Payer MLE, which we could use if we wanted to sign a player. Also only two of the three were to cover up Neil's fuck ups. When we got Varejao, we were under the salary floor and he netted us a first round draft pick. In any case, water under the bridge. And, don't forget, if the trade I proposed happened, it would get us under the tax threshold this year and get us out from under Moe's contact, whether we keep, or waive Thomas. His salary is 2/3 of Moe's and his contract is a year shorter. So, we'd save money both short term and long term whether we stretched him or kept him. Yep, resigning Moe is now looking like yet another Olshey fuck up, but that's on Moe. Last year Moe looked like a bargain and people were praising Neil for stealing him from ORL for nothing. BNM
Is that 5 mil with Thomas? For some reason I though we were at 5 mil today and he would be another 1.5-2 on the books but either way olsheys seat should be getting awfully warm by now and I don’t think a deal that nets nothing more than more dead money saves his job through the offseason.
The names I have been hearing Deandre Jordan Skal Labissiere Courtney Lee Nikola Mirotic Wes Matthews
Skal is nice as a future project for a low price, Jordan a bit pointless but very good, Matthews completely pointless, Mirotic not what we need, Lee is actually a good one if we can get him for Moe.
They won't. They had tremendously bad luck with Cousins injury but they might still make the playoffs and even if they don't their best bet going forward is trying to extend Cousins, not trading their bad players for players who are miles worse. If they ever trade Davis they will get like two or three great picks and two or three good players from Celtics. A package of Brown, Smart, Rozier, Grizzlies pick, Sacramento pick and Clippers pick blows anything we can offer out of the water and it's not even the best package Celtics will be willing to send back.
