I'd guarantee the $12.5M without hesitation.

    Get 'er done, Neil!

But we need the pick to POSSIBLY address the SF issue. If Collins is the PF of the future, why invest our 1st round pick on a PF?

So what’s the issue? New Orleans doesn’t want to guarantee his second year?

Okay, you talked me into it. Mirotic/Dunn for Turner/Napier. Trade machine says it's doable so it must be almost a done deal.

I think Collins is going to be played at C for the bulk of his career. I don't see him as a PF. Though teams do play twin towers at times.

    Bulls aren't trading Dunn.

Agreed...Of course they're not. Thought the tongue-in-cheek was obvious enough without going green font.

Yup. His team option works like a partial no trade clause.

But that makes no sense to me. They’re willing to sacrifice a first just to get rid of Asik?

I thought part of the issue, in regards to him playing in Portland, is that he didn't want to play in Portland.

82games fallaciously considers Davis a PF, even though the only 5 man units in which they have Davis listed as a PF have Collins as a center. If they flipped them (as we know they should), Collins' "by position" figure that you posted would more accurately show him as a PF.

Well if that is the case, and I started the season thinking the same as you, then maybe they should trade Nurk right away.

However after watching Collins recently I do think he is agile enough to guard the perimeter when needed. Certainly as quick as Mirotic. Yes Mirotic is a better 3 pt shooter, but Collins is the better defender, especially in the post.

I'd be good with Mirotic at PF and Aminu at SF. That would allow ET to go back to being super sub/6th man.

I'd be good with ET at SF, too. That would allow Aminu to sub at both PF and SF.

I like Ed Davis so much I'd be happy to see him at PF, which is his natural position. PF as backup for Mirotic in this scenario.

While I think Mirotic could bring immediate value to this team, I worry that we would be trading a 1st rd pick that could help facilitate a larger deal down the road (just adding Mirotic does not drastically change our projection) and that we are buying extremely high on him.

His fg%, 3pfg%, rebounding, and defensive metrics are all way up this year. He’s played 25 games at these new marks but played 280 games with much lower production. It just looks like fools gold to me.

I like Collins' future. I think he's going to be a beast of a C at both ends. What we hoped Leonard would be.

Collins and Davis play well together because they are effective outside/inside and aren't in each other's way on offense.

If and when Collins beats out Nurk for the starting job, it's going to be great for us.

As far as Nurk's present/future, Collins is just 20 years old. If Nurk is signed to a 5 year deal, Collins will be 25 when that deal is done. I don't see the issue.

Turner is from Chicago....I think he's a guy I'd trade for Mirotic....

The bulls historically played him at SF. At PF full time, he's having the kind of season expected of him all along. Last season he was pretty good, too. 16/8 PER 36, and an even lower DRtg. His year over year progress at PF seems impressive to me, not so much fool's gold.

The Bulls had Noah and Gasol starting at PF/C with Taj Gibson as sub at PF, so the coaches played Mirotic at SF just to get him in the game.

The downside of Mirotic is that he's been a crybaby since his days with Madrid. He bitched about lack of playing time (even while being an MVP caliber player). I'm surprised he re-signed with the Bulls, though he was an RFA and the contract was a big/decent raise.

And get Mirotic for half a year before Cousins returns. Unless Mirotic can play at SF (not entirely sure), he makes no sense for them permanently. Then again he would still hold value next season and they could trade him for someone in a position of need so I don't fully understand it either.

Asik's contract is truly terrible, but I think Cousins injury/free agency is the main reason why they aren't ready to commit to Mirotic past this year.

That is a negative for sure. I like going after international players, but it seems to me that the Spaniards are too much of a headache. I know I should not generalize but they seem to act more like prima donnas than the rest of the foreign players. Yes I know he also Montenegrin, but he still is listed as a Spaniard for his nationality too
