I would hope he's matured and that getting the Chicago out of him might turn him into a high quality addition to whatever team he's on.

He's not starting in Chicago - they have a superstar in the making at PF. He still gets 24.9 MPG, though, and he is putting up great numbers for a guy playing many more MPG than that.

Using the draft pick or trading for him are both making a bet of sorts. The draft pick might turn into the next LeBron or the next Nolan Smith. At least the guy gets paid a minimal rookie scale salary for a few years. On the other hand, Mirotic is something of a sure thing. He's a sure fire NBA caliber starting PF for this team.

Rudy was absolutely a prima donna, because he was a huge star in Europe before he came over. Same with guys like Rubio or Navarro. Going from top flight stars to bench players is an ego blow.

Guys like Sergio or Claver who weren't nearly as big on the Spanish national team.. not so much.

    Mirotic worries me.
Not only does he sound like a dramaqueen, but he reminds me too much of other chicago stretch 4's.
They looked good for a bit, then became complete garbage.

I guess we see it two different ways. I see it as a player who is extremely streaky in the middle of a great streak, you see it as a player who despite being streaky has shown improvement year to year and the sudden drastic uptick is more so caused by him playing in his correct position and role.

The reality is it’s probably a bit of both. For the right price I’m all in, I just struggle with a first rd pick being that price. I look at this deadline/offseason as our chance to make the needed roster changes to make a push at competing during Dames prime. So using our first rd pick on a player with so many unknowns like Mirotic when I believe it could and should be used for something bigger is difficult for me to get behind.

Even when he wasn't streaky, he was better than what we have :) . And a sure known thing (starting PF for years) vs. a draft pick that might be the next Nolan Smith (or Myers Leonard).

I agree he would be our starting PF but I don’t think he’s that much of an upgrade over Aminu when he’s shooting this well. I look at the first as an asset to be used in a larger trade as much as I do as a potential draft pick. I may be foolish in my thinking but, I just think there’s a bigger and better deal out there in good timing.

Aminu seems to be the streaky one :)

Seriously, I've watched games and game thread where the ball goes to Aminu and people cringe when he puts up a 3.

    Harmless, too.

The bet on Mirotic is that he'd be a good citizen (in the locker room, etc.), and that he'd continue to play as he has this season. Where else are you going to trade so little for a 15+ PPG guy when we need a 3rd or 4th option who can score?

IMO, the best option for us would be to find a team who would give up a 1st and a backup wing in exchange for Napier and Vonleh, and try to flip that 1st and Harkless for Mirotic.

Lol Aminu is definitely streaky, but his defense and chemistry in the locker room are sure things. Which I think he has over Mirotic.

I’ve been pretty open about wanting Rodney Hood (another streaky player) or striking a deal with Milwaukee centered around CJ, Middleton and Parker the that might need a first rd pick to make happen. Those are both hypotheticals, I get it, but it seems players unexpectedly hit the market all the time and that extra asset could be the difference maker in getting a player of higher caliber.

Aminu would be our starting SF still.

Probably, which doesn’t create a lineup that excites me for the short or long term.

    I don't see that.

Stotts is playing him and started him 34 of 36 games he's played. Harmless fell out of the lineup for his awful play. ET is starting for lack of anyone else. And SF is Aminu's natural position.

Stotts has said over and over that Aminu's best position is PF.

Wasn’t Aminu supposed to play more SF this season? If Aminus best position really was PF why did we draft Swanigan?
