Some were, others migrated here later from the future Canada.

But even though they were here in 1492, they had no part in creating The US of A, and have as a whole expressed little desire to join their countrymen as equals, desiring instead to remain on the dole of government entitlement as "extra-special" victims of oppression.

They are descendants of immigrants who slaughtered the people who immigrated here before them, over and over going back at least 20,000 years.

There are no living direct descendants of the original pioneers who came first from Asia, Polynesia, and likely Europe. They devolved into smaller tribes which through inbreeding developed identifiable differences in appearance from other tribes, and extreme vulnerability to disease. The only genetic diversity among them occurred due to the raping of slaves kidnapped from other tribes.

They had no concept of "countries" as a physical location with borders. They had no concept of "legal property rights". If they wanted something, they took it by force. Tribes pillaged each other and many tribes were slaughtered into extinction long before Modern Europeans landed.

Had they been left here alone they likely would all have died off from disease by now, or been slaughtered by Russians or Chinese, as they seemed not to have evolved much at all in eons.

What issue? You should look up the word consensus as it doesn't mean what I think you think it means.

Libs started a false dialogue, sensible people ignored it and proceeded as usual.

There's going to be a whole lot of pissed off Natives about the Wahoo logo going away, they love wearing the hats and owning the memorabilia. Redskins shit too.

I'm not a fan of either, but a lot of Natives are.

War winners write the histories. When a warmonger nation decimates a country, the written history of their peaceful era disappears.

I was born in Germany while my dad was serving in the US Army so I was born a US citizen, but not born in America.

    That's a 3rd way...

Just because you're white (or any color for that matter) doesn't mean you have to shamefully tiptoe around every subject you don't understand. It's perfectly acceptable to engage in a conversation without fear of being called racist. Racism is intent, period. If you don't feel hate toward someone based on their color you're probably not racist. Most everything else is an attempt to shame/confuse people into accepting a political ideology.

Native Americans are considered a nation within the United States. They are treated differently, through treaties (many broken, sadly) and tax treatment and even allowed to have casinos on their land where gambling is otherwise forbidden in the state.

Each tribe is respected as they should be.

I live in an area with a number of reservations and tribes. It is a clear demarkation when you enter their land.

Except for the Indians who slaughtered each other long before Columbus.

Jim Thorpe was a Native American.

After winning gold medals in the 1912 olympics, he went on to have careers in both professional baseball and football.

At a time when black americans were not allowed to have careers in the major leagues or pro football.

Not so ironically, he played baseball for, get this, the Cleveland Indians.

Your family wasn't indigenous to the Americas for 10,000+ years.

Sorry, D, but History hasn't proven anything.

All of our history books are written based on the leaderships point of view when they were written(referring to pre-modern era writing)
You dared not write anything that went against the leader of the land for fear of persecution and possibly execution depending on the leader at the time. (Yes there were a few who went against their leaders)

SO there is a warped historical reference to most any era we look back onto.

Secondly, there are spots in history where we don't know really what was going on other than scattered findings and piecing together clues(The dark ages)

Thirdly, man has been at war with each other since the beginning of its existence.
    The Egyptian wars
    The Crusades
    Napoleans march
    Gangus Kahns stronghold
    etc
    etc
    etc

and in between those war riddled eras were small skirmishes and what not.

Take the modern definition of racism out of this discussion and what you have is, since the beginning of time, there has ALWAYS been someone from one race who believed they should be the only race in control, and tries to spread their stronghold and suppress anyone they can that is not of the same decent.

IT is truly most unfortunate, but it is what our world has been and is.

What it will be is up to us and our children, but we must focus on what will be, not on what was, if you really want to make a change, my friend.
If you keep focusing on what was, then all you are doing is instilling and passing along that anger and frustration to our children and then they grow up biased, feeling slighted, etc, without every actually having a first hand experience with suppression or racism.

We must focus on the future and not the past, if we are ever to truly find peace in this world.

It is hard I know, but we must release what has been done and cant be changed and focus on making changes for the future.

When I was a kid I had this day dream. Two different kinds of people are living on this sandy hill. One race lives in opulence and pleasure. The other lives in squalor and climbs the hill every day to serve the other people. Well, one day, their is an earthquake and the people at the top of the hill fall to the bottom. The other race quickly ascends and builds a new house and THEY become the new aristocracy. Every few hundred years this game happens again.

I had this dream like every day when I was younger and never knew why. Then when I got older I read that Jean Genet had the same dream. It's about time and tragic circumstance and conquering and sufffering. We are doomed to repeat this cycle because it is in our nature. We will always see ourselves as parts of some wave of a movement rather than come about to some individual agreement with everything in our lives. It's not that we are stupid. But we feel that the circumstances surrounding what's happening to us now are unique and will never come again. As our technological and sociological cage gets bigger so do the odds of the human race's ultimate survival.
