Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/notes/note...erson-knee.html <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Already down to nine bodies coming into Tuesday's practice, the Celtics may be looking at eight. Al Jefferson banged his left knee with Ryan Gomes half way through practice, aggravating a minor injury he first suffered in a collision with Gerald Wallace during the Celtics' March 21 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. "[We] were just going at it hard, like always," Jefferson said. "We just banged knees. I was just complaining to Ed [Lacerte] how sore it was and he was giving me treatment on it, and [then] I banged it." Jefferson's knee was sore and wrapped in ice and he said "I seriously doubt it" when asked if he could play Wednesday night against the Bucks. Jefferson expects to travel with the team today and at least try to give it a go tomorrow, but won't force the issue if it doesn't feel right. Jefferson is also cognizant of the fact that he may be better off sitting out rather than trying to come back for the final few weeks of the season. "You've got to think about things like that, but also I want to play," Jefferson said. "I want to get better, take advantage of these games and get better as a team, but I don't want to go out there hurt and risk further injury." Meanwhile, Coach Doc Rivers said that the team will likely pursue at least one 10-day contract with a big man to fill the void. He didn't share any names, but given Jefferson's status, a signing would likely come before tomorrow's game in Milwaukee. "I'd already asked them to see if we could bring a guy in so we could have 10 guys," Rivers said. "Now we would have to bring two in (to get to 10) and I think the league would allow us to do that with all of the injuries we have. I don't think we'll have to do that, but we'll still have to bring one guy in and I think we will."</div> I definitely believe that he did bang his knee, but like playa said on AIM, this has to be some degree of tanking if they are thinking about shutting him down for the rest of the season (according to WEEI). We'll see, get well soon Al. But I'm interested in seeing who that 10-day contract will go to. Some names I'll throw out there: Akin Akingbala (the club liked him, but cut him in camp) Walter McCarty (I... love... Walter!) Jawad Williams (liked him at UNC) Elton Brown (averaging a near double-double in the D-League) Julius Hodge (good athlete, 9.2 bpg in the D-League.. no f*cking joke there) I don't know, we'll see.

Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game Sit Al and Pierce for the rest of the year. Durant or Oden would look way too nice in a Celtics uniform...
Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game we aren't guaranteed a top-2 pick if we finish in the bottom 2 of the standingsand the difference between the second and third place in the standings is only like 4.5%..but seriously this is tanking at it's finest lol
Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game ^Yeah, but you are still going to have a better chance of getting that #1 or #2 pick. If the Celtics dont get Oden or Durant, this will be the biggest waste of a season ever. Besides the developement of some of the young guns of course.
Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game I don't think it will be a waste of a season...Worst comes to worst we get the #3 or #4 pick..draft Al Horford or Brandan Wright...package them with Ratliff, Green, Gomes and/or West for an all-star veteran big man to pair up with AlYou honestly think Danny Ainge doesn't know he's dead if we don't get a top 2 pick or get an all stair to pair up with Pierce who if we fail to do this will probably be gone by the deadline next year?It won't be the waste of a seasonYou're telling me Al Jefferson's 15.8 PPG and 10.9 RPG was a waste of a season?

Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game Ugh, here comes another losing streak for us. We are going to get killed downlow with Big Al gone for a little bit. I really hope we go after Julius Hodge or Akin Akingbala. Akin looked good earlier with the team, but didn't make it.

Either one of these players are going to be All-Stars down the road, and I bet you anything that Kevin Durant will be an All-Star by his third season in the NBA. Yeah, notice why I said developement of our young players. Al Jefferson = young player...Lose the rest of the games and get a higher draft pick. The rest of these games mean nothing...Look at Orlando. They did great at the end of last year, they started off hot this year, and now look at them.
Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game ballerman, love the caption below you durant icon.
Re: Al Jefferson hurts knee, out for tomorrow's game Good idea to sit Jefferson. He has nothing to prove right now and sitting him for the rest of the year is just as smart as sitting Pierce. Now we can focus on how guys like Gerald and Rondo perform down this home stretch and then the lottery/offseason w00t.

Al Jefferson is not perfect, he still does have something to prove. He has progressed beautifully, but he still needs to improve certain aspects of his game, especially on the defensive end. 2. This isn't a home stretch, we have 9 games left and 5 of them are on the road.
