The Jordan to Blazers has been mentioned too much in the media the past week without it actually happening, that usually means it’s not gonna happen. I honestly don’t understand all the Nurk love, he’s good for what he’s paid but he’s gonna be getting 15+ mil starting next year and he has regressed from the beast he looked like last season in pdx. If you can get a talent upgrade at pf or sf for him and just slide Davis/Collins to center why wouldn’t you trade him immediately?

So if he's regressed to the point that you'd rather not pay him Mozgov/two-thirds of DeAndre money (which is a reasonable take, I guess), why would another team give us something super-valuable (a SF/PF better than Aminu and ET, but making peanuts) for him?

Better than ET? That’s funny. Well they would have to target a player like Nurk who is also set for free agency that the team isn’t sure of resigning but also could use frontcourt help for a playoff push. Example would be Jabari Parker

You can say that you think Collins is the COTF but every single thing this organization has done with him is lining up for him to be the PFOTF. Why would they move up in the draft to get him if they thought he was a center before seeing Nurk this year? Why do they almost exclusively play him at power forward with Ed Davis in the game too? Why were they not after Mirotic, a PF, if they thought Collins was going to be a center and Nurk could possibly be traded? We could have offered no salary back using the TPE or very little in terms of long term money and a 1st rounder too. To me that signifies that they are comfortable with the PF spot and don't want things to get in the way of that.

As for Nurkic, it really is a travesty that people just ignore his defensive impact on the team. This team was one of the worst defensive teams of ALL TIME for a portion of last year. This is basically the same roster with Nurk added and all of a sudden they are a top-10 defensive team? That shouldn't just be overlooked. He's still super young in terms of when he started playing basketball. There is also a period of time after you lose a lot of weight in that short of time that you are going to be weaker than normal. If he can put on muscle but stay around 275 he will be even stronger than last year but his body will hold up better. That is really hard to do during a season after you just lost a bunch of weight. All of his offensive problems are correctable ones.

Collins could be just as or an even better defensive anchor than Nurk by the time he’s 23, easily.

So instead of paying Nurkic $15-20 million you'd rather pay someone over $20 million who has 2 complete ACL tears in his first 3 seasons in the leauge?

But it doesn't have to be one or the other, we can have both.

Yes, because the only way this organization is gonna actually compete with the top teams(in each conference) is if they gamble and win for ONCE. Parker could be an absolute star and it’s a perfect buy low candidate. If it doesn’t workout, put it on the long list of shit that didn’t work out for Portland. Everyone wants a 3rd star, how do u get one if ur not willing to even trade Nurk?

I’d rather have Jabari’s offense with Collins anchoring the D.

For the record, the rumor last year was that Olshey tried to get Parker and they said only if Dame is involved so you might have to temper your expectations on that one.

    Dame/Napier
    CJ/Pat
    Turner
    Jabari/Amino
    Davis/Collins

    That’s an upgrade

That’s also when they had another season before free agency, we will see how they feel about him now. The Bucks have some extensions coming soon, I wonder how they feel about gambling on Jabari before them.

Collins will always be too fragile to play center, even thinner than Plumlee. When Nurkic arrived we saw the benefits of a heavy center, on both offense and defense. Nurkic now misses some easy close shots, but Plumlee missed most, not some.

After Olshey vastly overpaid McCollum, we are allergic to $20M contracts, at least till after we get rid of McCollum (when, oh when?).

A year ago, this board was sure that Plumlee would get $20M, so he had to go. He got $13.7M ($41M, 3 years), and Nuggets fans thought that too high. So maybe Nurkic will get $15-16M, not $20M (unless Olshey bids against himself again).

That doesn't make any sense. I fail to see your logic when you say they have some extensions coming soon but would then trade for a guy in the EXACT same situation.

I don’t think the bucks are as high on Parker after ANOTHER partial season played. That said, Parker will command a much larger contract than Nurk. Do they really wanna max out Parker with Freak and others coming up? Nurk would be less of a risk for them and wouldn’t cost as much.

We would never get Parker straight up for Nurk, that’s not what I’m saying, it would require at least Noah or someone like that also. I wouldn’t trade a pick this year though.

Paying Nurk is safer, but Paying Parker offers more upside(and risk) Parker at his cieling would make us a top 3-4 team in the West imo.

Collins is 7’0 23olbs, that’s what I weigh at 6’1! I don’t believe Collins is done filling out and can easily see him with 20lbs of muscle added in the next 2-3 years.

16 mil is too much for fadeaway scoop shots.
