I think LeBron is saying to Dan Gilbert:

"I need help and I think I need you to trade Brooklyn's pick."

"Well. I need you to sign a new contract."

    "I can't do that."

"Well then. I can't trade that pick!"

    That's a very disheartening thought.

Sometimes I wonder if basketball fans, the teams, and the league, would be better off if the players had contracts directly with the league, and there was a dispersal draft after every season. Maybe each team could protect 3 players and the rest go into the draft, with teams drafting in reverse order of previous year's record. If a player wants to hold the league hostage for a $30 million dollar contract, let him walk. Someone else will be happy to take his place.

Sorry, don't mean to divert the thread, but this superstar super team bullshit is going to make following the NBA a depressing act of futility and masochism to the fans of 90% of the teams. Most importantly, me and my favorite team.

    Le Sigh.

He's bros with Dwayne Wade but that's not getting him a championship...Spurs I could see but Houston ...can't pay him as constructed

IF...for some reason he would waive his no-trade clause and come to Portland, would you trade whatever salaries (say Turner, Davis Harkless just for example) and our 1st round pick for a 4-month rental knowing he would leave?

I think Porzingis just tore his ACL.

Had an emphatic dunk over Giannis and came down on the Freak's foot and something snapped

Why does everyone think Lebron is gonna go to whoever pays him the most, i can actually see him just signing 1 year deals till he finds the right place to beat the warriors, after his endorsements next year he will be worth half a BILLON dollars, I don’t think he’s gonna turn down the right spot to win a championship over money.

Players and your 1st round pick gone, he is guaranteed to leave and no guarantee you get past HOU let alone GSW. I'd be happy with the clearing of contracts, and not so happy about losing the one asset that is guaranteed to get players here....but it would be a hell of a 4 months.

The other benefit of that is some late season bought out veterans may want to come here for a 3 month run. But that would be it. Come next season, you are back to where you were without a Draft pick and without whatever players were given up. I imagine we would all be thrilled and then if we didn't win a Championship, would be somewhat disappointed with what next season's roster looked like.
