Tomorrow it begins, if you like hockey at all I suggest you watch it. I am a broadcast journalism student at the University of Maine and we are covering this on our campus radio station. I'm doing the pre-game show/intermission reports for it. If you guys have any freetime and want to hear a BBW member live over the airways you can listen online at www.umaine.edu/wmeb .

All four of those teams I posted are ridiculous. Unlike the NBA, the NHL drafts kids then lets them go to college. There are so many future NHL players playing in D1 college hockey, for instance, half of Maine's roster is already drafted.

North Dakota is probably the best team left. They are playing extremely well right now and just took off the top team in the tournament, Minnesota. Also, history is on their side as a WCHA team has won the title each of the past 5 or 6 seasons.

Maine and Michigan St. was a barn burner last year in the Regional Semis. It's going to be a great re-match. Also, I'm dead serious when I say this, Maine has played the best hockey the past two games that they've played all season. They lost to UMass the last 2 games of the season and then lost to them in the Hockey East playoffs. Then they beat them 3-1 last week. Maine is the sleeper team of this Frozen Four.

Yeah I don't doubt Maine after that AWESOME 2002 National Championship game in St. Paul. I don't know diddly squat about Eastern hockey, so I can't say how good they are this year. But that game in '02 was unbelievable. Luckily, I was on the winning end of that :yahoo:

f*cking Maine, they jump out to a 2-0 lead then completely fell asleep after that. Michigan St. has a great defense but I think Boston College is going to run the table against them. It was a good season for Maine though, they weren't even slated to make the tourney and they made it to the Frozen Four. I feel bad for our goalie Ben Bishop, he's from St. Louis and that's where the Frozen Four was this year. Good season Black Bears.

Also it's a little bit different with hockey. There really isn't a right out #1 prospect unless it's like the next Gretzky like Sidney Crosby. That only happens once every 20 years also. Kids go to college after playing in Junior leagues and some prospects emerge from being so-so into great players. A freshman on Maine named Teddy Purcell emerged into a great prospect over the course of his junior league career. He's a a 21 year old freshman on Maine and he was 2nd in points this year, he was also Hockey East Rookie of the Year. He'll be a captain one day at UMaine.

University of Minnesota had the #1 overall pick in the NHL draft last year, freshman defenseman named Erik Johnson. I only know that because I'm from Minnesota.

Boston College lost. Further adding to their stigma of not winning a big game in the last decade or longer. F*ck its so frustrating to be a fan when they can't win the big games in ANY sport. Oh well though, even though I really don't follow college hockey, great to see them go far and rep Boston well.

Ahhh, Midwest hockey at its finest. What is that now, 6 years in a row? I love it!
