...I'm thinking that the Yanx' management is a bit apprehensive about starting the season with TWO rookies (Torres & Andujar) starting at 2B and 3B. ...I like Andujar but I like Moustakas even more....and if the Yanx can get him on a 1 year deal, I say do it. Being a LHed hitter with power, Moose can raise his stock even more in next year's FA market by hitting in Yankee Stadium for 81 games while in a Yankees lineup that would be simply stacked...he also provides solid defense. ...but if the Yanx sign him they'd also have to give up a draft pick which would be a lot to ask in return for only one from Moustakas, not to mention that his salary would put the Yanx very near the Lux Tax threshold....yet another reason for Cashman to jettison Ellsbury or Gardner.
Moustakas made 8 million last year so if the Yankees could get him for one year I'd wonder how much they'd be willing to shell out. He is also hitting age 30 close to the end of the '18 season which would make me believe he's looking for more years and dollars. My guess earlier in the offseason was that Moustakas and his buddy Hosmer would have gotten snatched up fast but the market did not go that way. We'll have to see what happens. Bet Cashman has black and blue marks all over his ass kicking it for giving Ellsbury such a nice contract. That deal was listed as Cashmans worst.
Congrats on you B-day 59, just read this deal reported by Rosenthal. Also the article states that while not likely they are talking. Ellsbury & Andujar to Baltimore, Machado to the Yankees, Tampa Bay involved sending Odorizi to Baltimore and the Ray get mid level Yankee prospects. Machado for one year, Jesus Christ he's going to want a ton of money, I'd rather see the Yankees hold on to Andujar .
Justin Verlander tweeted a fly in the Yankees euphoric '18 season hopes with a comment that there was another team to beat. One would like to blow these comments off but unfortunately Verlanders Detroit & Astro Teams have put the Yankees to bed four times. It's time for the Yankees to dig in, get hard, and be confident without the hype and prove their mettle on the field. The '18 Dodgers got the brains from Tampa and Oakland, stocked up on players and still lost.
I liked Lincecum, the guy had great stuff before he went south. Best of luck on his efforts to return.
Yeah, I liked him too...but his pitching motion was so violent I'm surprised his arm held up as long as it did....but when he was on, he was electric.
Damn, 8 mil for Garcia, damn they must be hard up in Toronto, that guy will have a hard time in the AL East.
