Blech, it should have been expected with him coming here and leaving UTEP like he did. That doesn't make it any easier, though.I'm not a huge fan of Bill Byrne, first of all. There hasn't been much talk of him here at A&M, but you just have to be disappointed if you like men's sports. We've done well at quite a few sports, but not great. We're always right behind somebody, and it's getting old. Now he's lost Gillispie (perhaps not his fault, but still). As far as Gillispie goes, I think it sucks that we lost him. It will be hard to replace him, but not impossible. We have great new facilities, great new players coming in, and a great home crowd. The key will be to find someone with the balls to take us to the next level (it obviously wasn't Gillispie). I think Billy will have a tough time at Kentucky, though. As someone in our newspaper said, .729 isn't good enough in Kentucky (to be realistic though, he will get better recruiting at UK).

Its a solid hire by Kentucky, and its too bad for aTm. As a midwest basketball fan I'm a little happy Kentucky didn't snag Tom Crean at Marquette. Justice, who do you think A&M will hire now?

Everyone was so hyped up on getting BG back, that I don't think anyone was thinking about other possibilities (at least, I wasn't). I'll update y'all if I hear anything though.

I'm shocked by this. I really am. Great hiring for UK. I mean, A&M made huge strides this year, and now he's gone. Wow.

Like I said though, it is to be expected. He's had something like 11 jobs in 20 years.
