So let's see if I have straight. Psych drugs are turning perfectly normal people in to mass shooters. Not that these people were having mental problems and were prescribed drugs in addition to therapy. No possibility that there could be many cases where drugs and therapy has prevented shootings. Just that now doctors are bad. Healthcare bad. Science and research bad. Strange times we live in.
I have an idea, let’s work at improving the mental health systems AND put some restrictions on who, how and what firearms are used. It’s not one or the other.
Major Nidal Hassan (Fort Hood) disagrees. As does Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez (Chattanooga recruiting offices). Or Aaron Alexis (Navy Yard). Or Christopher Dorner. I guess we're super-equal-opportunity in the military when it comes to mass murder, as opposed to all you civilians.. So it's all the affluent gangs in DET, New Orleans, STL, CHI, BAL, PHI, LA that are murdering folks?
No. Cats kill one mouse at a time, consume or give to human, then another. So they don't need assault teeth.
You don't even get it. Any white person who kills is just exercising their privilege. Any non white person who kills is rebelling against that white privilege. No white males equals perpetual peace on Earth. Kum ba mother fucking yah
With my experience of people taking these types of drugs, it’s hit or miss on whether it makes them worse, or better. I take 20mg of Prozac every morning. Now I can usually sleep through an entire night. But it still freaks me out to think about the long term affects of these drugs, because we have no clue. I know alcohol will kill you eventually. I know smoking weed wont do anything to you, unless the weed you’re smoking has pesticides, or some other nasty shit on it. I know what meth and heroin and all the other shit will do. I’m not sure what happens when you take Prozac everyday... I found out there was fluoride in it, after I started taking it. Apparently that shit is like this century’s lead problem. On a side note; I’m really interested to see the long term affects of molly. I think these rave kids are gonna feel weird later in life.
When i found out flouride was a prominant ingrediant in prozac i had to wonder why water treatment plants put the shit in our water.
You're making it out like it's Chad the football jock with the hot cheerleader girlfriend who decides one day to shoot up the school. It's not. It's the weird kid who is on prescription drugs for depression or ADHD or some other kind of mental illness. Let's not paint these people as though they're living in a perfectly happy little life until one day they snap. They usually suffer from bullying and/or an abusive home. These kids should be very easy to pick out and focus on. The most recent kid was already known as a threat. He had been reported to the FBI. We all knew these kinds of kids in school. I knew several kids that were horribly picked on because they were weird, and school shootings were fairly new when I was finishing high school, but those would be the kids that would bring a gun to school now.
But there ARE restrictions on who, how, and what firearms are used. I know that you know this. And this is the problem. There is a large segment of the population who are screaming for gun control while simultaneously having zero understanding of what laws are already in place, as well as no clue how guns work or what distinguishes one gun from another. It would be like having a million people with zero understanding of healthcare or medicine talk about how to regulate our doctors... or a bunch of people who never made it past the second grade telling teachers and administrators how to educate our kids. I really wish people would actually do some research before screaming about what needs to be done. I know you have owned guns Further. I know you have a pretty decent understanding of what laws currently exist, but posts like yours are not helping because the people who DON'T understand guns and gun laws read that kind of statement and just assume that guns are completely unregulated. That there are no laws and that anyone can buy any gun whenever they wish. It astounds me how many people don't know the difference between a fully automatic machine gun and a semi-automatic rifle. And most of the people who are yelling to ban bump stocks have no idea what they are, or how they work. They just think it makes a gun into a machine gun, so it needs to be banned. People need to actually read up before talking about making changes to our laws.
What do they all have? Probably social media accounts and internet access....most may have cell phones too!
Guns are regulated to some degree but not wisely. There are dumb rules like if a gun looks a certain way or the type of grip permitted for long guns. But there are far more lapses in regulations that need repairs. How easy it is to purchase is crazy since there are ways to legally circumvent the background check. I think age is a serious problem in that people who are 18 simply don’t have all their faculties yet, especially men. I would love to see an age limit of 21 or even 25, with avenues in place for those between 18-25 to qualify through gun education. I would like all owners to be required to have locked storage capacity for every firearm they own. There are a bunch of additional things that could be put in place to intelligently curb gun violence.
Also Nate, I think you don’t give your opponents in this debate enough credit. They may not know how a bump stock works but they do understand what it means to see so many killed at country music concerts, high schools, churches and so on. People don’t need to understand all the nuances to understand that there are some measures that need to be taken to save lives. We can leave the highly specific details to those who erite the laws and vote on them.
Nobody is saying they create killers but the fact a lot of these shooters are on them should say something. There is a connection. That’s all
