That's a man for you. Lived his life and doesn't want to take from his kids. Even though that would improve and extend his life.
I can relate much to well for comfort to Watson's take. When I first found out I was going to lose half if not all of a kidney, my Son said: "Dad, if necessary I will give you one of mine". Of course I'd never take it and wouldn't even consider such, regardless, - and such wasn't necessary, TG... Watson's discipline at the plate, is still obvious in his own words: 'I've had a good life and I don't want to take a kidney from young people who really need them and still have their whole lives ahead of them.' That would be very selfish on my part."
Pulled up '80 ALCS video, Willie on 1st, Watson smoked that ball to right, Brett grabs the incoming ball, fires a strike home to nail Willie. That play was a momentum breaker for sure. Then Brett gets that three run bomb in game 3 series pretty much over.
