Our lack of player movement has us hyper focused on one player. The guy is TWENTY!

Mitchell and Lauri are legit as they come. Those two are franchise type players.

Kuzma has kinda come back down to earth, John Collins is the next double-double machine at PF, the jury is still out on Allen though.

Collins had a PER of 30.9 at Gonzaga last year. He shot 67.2% on two-point field goals and 47.6% on three-point field goals. This year he's .431 on 2-pt attempts and .313 from three. I think he's just having rookie issues adjusting to the NBA. The defenders in the post are stronger and bigger than he was used to in college. The three-point line is farther away and he's being asked to play on the perimeter more than he was used to in college.

I don't like John Collins all that much. He has been good on a bad team but I think his ceiling is not spectacular. I think Allen will be a better player in the future because of his defensive potential, like DeAndre Jordan lite.

Lauri is good but not first option on a contending team good. Mitchell could be that, Lauri won't.

Based on what exactly? It’s impossible to know either way but based on the eye test thus far... that prediction isn’t fair. It’s more of a hopeful wish because he is a Blazer and we desperately need him to pan out.

So 7 of the 9 players drafted ahead of Zach aren't in the top 7?

    Sucks for those teams.

    Amirite? ;)

John Collins is like an Amir Johnson type, for where he was picked he is a good player. He’s the type of bench big contending teams love.

I think Lauri has potential to be a first option in the way LA was for us but he will be much better as the robin or 3rd wheel on a contender.

Perhaps, but I don't think Zach can play 25-30 mpg on any team and contribute consistently now, even if it's lottery bound

Luckily for me, I didn't think he'd be able to this season anyway.

Lauri is a stud. Love his game!

Zach will be fine. That last game (half) was really impressive in my opinion. He is starting to slow down with the ball in his hands finally. He was rushing everything early on and now seems to be catching up to the speed of the game. Maybe someone like Kaman could be brought in to workout with him.

Does he look much bigger than when he was drafted already? Obviously he's working out every day and has adjusted his diet to put on some mass. I saw a close up of him in the last game and thought wow!

Its funny when someone mocks an extreme opinion, when they're known for making extreme opinions themselves.

The good: EFG % and Rebound %

The bad: Assist % and Turnover %

The fact that BJ Mullins is his closest comparison isn't filling me with optimism. If he could work on his release and be a knock down 15-18 foot jump shooter, I like his upside. I don;t like his floating out at the 3-point line.

Reminds me of Dame's rookie year. He won ROY but everyone was sure AD would be the better player in five years. Luckily dame proved the doubters wrong.

    I don't have extreme opinions.

    1. I think we are a middle of the road team
    2. Middle of the road coach
    3. Middle of the road GM

You must be thinking WABC. If so, ok, I guess?

So in your scenario, Zach is the AD analog?

I just don't buy the premise that the others who are already better than him now won't remain a step ahead even in the future. Bam/Allen/J.Collins/etc are all around his age. This pick is looking increasingly like Neil picking Aminu in 2010, and watching Gordon Hayward and Paul George go in the consecutive picks after.

I personally think Collins has the potential to be more impactful than the three you listed but I agree on the whole. It’s not a sure thing. My take is, John Collins would’ve helped us NOW, Zach Collins will probably help us in 2020.
