Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump met with a lawyer who represented then-President Bill Clinton during the impeachment process and is talking with him about a role at the White House, The New York Times reported Saturday. The Times, citing four people familiar with the matter, said Trump met with lawyer Emmet T. Flood in the Oval Office about joining the team as Trump and his allies continue to deal with the special counsel investigation led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller. Two of the sources told the paper that no final decision had been made, and the Times said Flood joining the team would not replace White House lawyer Ty Cobb. The apparent signal that Trump is preparing for the investigation to continue through the immediate future comes as Mueller's investigation has produced multiple indictments and as the President has seen the departure of key White House personnel. The Times' report said Cobb has told friends he does not expect to remain in his job for much longer. Flood's corporate profile outlines his experience in several high-profile legal fights, including the Clinton impeachment process and former Vice President Dick Cheney in a civil suit from former CIA officer Valerie Plame. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/03/10/politics/donald-trump-emmet-flood-robert-mueller/
I keep feeling like this is a "careful what you wish for..." thing. Don't get me wrong, I (moreso than most here) am about Rules and Order and if someone did something that should wind up with them in jail, then sayonora, Felicia. That said, I'd love to see what MSNBC thinks when they achieve their wet dream of Trump no longer being President, only to find that Supreme Court justices and Executive Orders are now going to be selected by Mike Pence, Paul Ryan, Orrin Hatch or Jim Mattis. While the comedy and entertainment factor may go down, I'm quite interested in the policy decisions that happen.
Absolutely that's an issue. Mike Pence is in many ways more of a freak show than Trump. And he is likely to be more competent at getting what he wants. barfo
If Trump goes down or resigns then Pence will resign. He will be unelectable in 2020 if he is President. Just doesn't have the same charisma that Trump has and won't be able to overcome the taint. Better to step aside and have Paul Ryan become president before the November election. Paul Ryan would have a much better chance to win the presidency in 2020 and would be running as a one and done. That you could sell. Or if the dems do win back the house in Nov and Trump has to leave office then Pence should also resign. That would make Nancy Pelosi president. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Talk about low energy/polling numbers. That would guarantee the repubs will back the white house in 2020.
He is a man of principals. Odd principals but he does have them. It seems highly unlikely he doesn't know some of the BS that has gone down in the WH and I don't see him lying about it. If he ever gets called in front of a grand jury he isn't going to lie.
But he has been caught in several lies, like regarding when he knew and what he knew about Flynn. Not as principled as his image would suggest.
He repeated lies he was told. He didn't actually think of the lie, just for a brief moment he was possessed by satan.
Yeah, like a big tax cut for corporations. That was clearly impossible for Trump to get. And a conservative on the Supreme Court. And a dramatic decrease in illegal immigration. And a repeal of Obamacare’s individual mandate. And lower unemployment and food stamp use. And rolling back regulations on small business. And withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord. And boosting the Stock market. And waging an effective battle against ISIS. Trump is clearly ineffective at getting what he wants.
And Obamacare has been repealed, and Mexico paid for a big beautiful wall, and when is the next Infrastructure Week? barfo
Geez! She is the only person on earth that could rival HRC for the worst possible of all nightmares as CNC.
Well, he wanted more than one conservative on the Supreme Court appointed by him; He wanted to deport all the so called illegals including the DACAs; Obamacare is still with us; Unemployment was on a steady decline starting with Obama and thanks to Obama, clearly; Regulations have been rolled back including limitations on dumping pollutants in our rivers and streams; While out of the Paris Climate Accord, virtually all private business is adhering to it as best they can including Exon; The stock market was on a roll, again thanks to the saving of our economy from a Great Great Depression by Obama (Thanks Obama). However, lately it's on a nasty downturn (I wonder why); The ISIS demise was foreseen during Obama's Presidency (Thanks Obama). However, he is very effective at doing great damage by appointing idiots and firing anyone who knows his ass from a hole in the ground. Hey, I need a new desk for my office and some really really expensive doors. Also, I either need to fly first class or lease a private jet (preferred) because I'm frugal. Also, I commend him for forgoing on his promise to spend all his time in the Oval Office and for charging huge sums to the government for retreating about a third of the time to Mar-a-Lago. I commend him for making Mexico pay for that wall. Oh, I left out the big tax cuts. Big for who? If you mean big for the wealthy and big corporations, you are correct. If you mean big for anyone else, no they're gonna get screwed when they have to cut social security and Medicare to pay for the trillion and a half the tax cut is going to cost us.
Yes, Ryan would have a slim but possible chance of winning which Pence would not. However, ain't-a-gonna happen.
