<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Josh Smith's profanity-laced outburst at the end of regulation of the Hawks' 109-104 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Sunday night has resulted in a two-game suspension, announced Billy Knight in a statement to RealGM and other media outlets.Smith went back and forth with Woodson on the bench over two plays in the final 40 seconds of regulation that resulted in Woodson telling Smith to hit the showers before the overtime session began."You've got to be able to control your emotions on our bench," Woodson said after the game, in which the Hawks (28-49) lost a 17-point lead en route to their 11th straight road loss. "He didn't, and I had to send him in [to the locker room], and I'll address it further [today]."As the players walked to the bench for the break between regulation and overtime, Smith said he told the coaches that he "wanted that last shot." An argument ensued, and Smith flung his headband to the floor on his way to the locker room."I made a mistake, and I apologized to my teammates in the locker room, and I tried to apologize to Coach, but he just said we'd deal with it [today]," Smith said as he left the Hawks' locker room."I was upset with myself for taking that jumper instead of backing Andre Miller down. I knew I should have backed him down. So in my mind I wanted to make up for it on that last possession, but Coach called a different play."</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/455...ame_suspension/Josh Smith is the one who made the mistake in this situation, he has no right to call out his coach for anything. Josh Smith will start getting plays drawn up for him during the late stretches of games when he starts earning them. I like Josh Smith's game alot, he has improved a ton since last season. His rebounding numbers are impressive and he's nearly leading the league in blocks as a small forward. With that being said, he seems to have a bad attitude. This isn't the first time he has been fined/suspended for doing something inappropriate. Remember when he made obscene gestures towards the Charlotte crowd after being ejected earlier in the season?
I don't think it's really his attitude that's a problem, he's just got a heap of energy and he's just used it a the wrong time.
Yeah, If I am a Hawk fan right now, I wouldn't be angry at Smith for doing this. The guy is having a breakout year and not winning...at all. You can understand his mind set. Like Amare said he just had alot of energy and used it a the wrong time.
This was retarded. Josh Smith wanted the last shot, he wanted to redeem himself - instead Mike Woodson wants 5'10'' Tyronn Lue taking a 30 foot fade away which he airballs. I love the fact that Josh wanted to lead the team, and want that last shot. Anger played a big part in this, being on a losing team, he was pissed off that he couldnt have the chance to win the game // instead we end up losing the game! I'd be pissed too, Woodson's a moron.
I also believe that this suspension was a little too "perfect," as far as timing is concerned. They suspended him the day before they played the Celtics, and a lot of people have suggested that Atlanta has been tanking a bit. I don't know how much stock you should put into that, probably none, but I'm just throwing it out there.
