I doubt the nba would even allow lbj to come here, it would be bad for the league like when pdx/sea got the first 2 draft picks lol

Man cle sucks, we need to beat them by 30 at the end of their road trip and the crowd needs to be in it the entire time, maybe that will give lbj something to think about.

Maybe we should make some billboards to hang in/around the city.

Same way they stopped it when Portland and Seattle got the #1 and #2 picks.

They'd either ruin LeBrons knees or move the team from Portland.

They vetoes the Chris Paul to Lakers trade. They can do whatever they want. The front office is like the producers on "Survivor." They can change the rules as they go along.

I'm so tired of that narrative. THE LEAGUE OWNED THE FRANCHISE. They vetoed the trade because they didn't think it was the best deal for the franchise, not just because they didn't want the Lakers to have him.

Yeah, because they had ownership of the Hornets at the time. So Stern vetoed the trade as the acting owner.

Can Paul Allen veto a trade between Brooklyn and Orlando? Nope. So how could the NBA veto our trade? Short answer: They couldnt.

Exactly man. You can tell how much somebody paid attention to the NBA based on their opinion on that issue.

I had this weird thought this morning that the Grizzlies and Cavs were going to make a huge trade at the draft. The trade I came up with was Conley and Gasol for Thompson, JR Smith, George Hill, and the Brooklyn pick.

For the Grizzlies they'd be going full rebuild and would likely have two top-5 picks in a very top heavy draft. They currently have the 1st and the Brooklyn pick is currently 5th. If they get the #1 pick I think taking Ayton and trading Gasol makes a lot of sense for them. Then at #5 they could take whoever falls between Doncic, Porter, and Trae Young. This would be a very quick way to load up on young talent and they get out of Conley's enormous contract, granted they take on almost just as much salary but they are for less years.

For the Cavs this would obviously be a move to try and maximize LeBron's final few peak years. He'd definitely have to give them an indication he was staying otherwise they'd be dumb to trade the Brooklyn pick. They would also re-sign Hood. Their guard rotation would be Conley, Hood, and Clarkson. Big rotation would be Gasol, Love, and Nance Jr with LeBron and Korver at the SF. That's a pretty dang good 8 man rotation. They'd still have Osman and Zizic too, the tax-MLE to add another piece, a $5.8 million trade exception, and of course could sign vet min ring chasers as well.

I know this doesn't help the Blazers at all but unless LeBron leaves I don't think any situation with the Cavs will help us.

In hindsight, the Lakers offer was probably better.

    http://www.espn.com/los-angeles/nba...os-angeles-lakers-deal-acquire-chris-paul-off

They ended up with - "The Clippers will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul. The Clippers will also receive two future second-round picks." The pick ended up being Austin Rivers. Aminu was gone in 2014. Kayman only played one year in NO. Rivers only played two years in New Orleans before being traded..... to the Clippers. Gordon was in New Orleans for five years and never played more than 64 games.

That pick that would have been sent over in the Lakers trade ended up being at #12 (Jeremy Lamb). Dragic is still the best player out of the bunch... neither trade was especially great though.

I'm hearing a rumor that Lebron has been spotted in Portland. I wonder if this means he wants to play for us?

I think you're forgetting the contract issues. The LAL one, IIRC, had multiple players with multiple years of high salaries left. Just as the NBA was trying NOT to take on long-term salary so that they could sell the team.
