Days after the G league ends don’t count toward the 45 day maximum. The Blazers called him up on Jan. 30th and the G league ends March 24th, so that’s 54 days. They’re either going to have to send him back down for 9 days or so, or convert his contract to a regular one.

This means we won’t have to sign any more guys on ten day contracts to satisfy league rules.

Could also make him playoff eligible. Not sure though.

    He should be playoff eligible.

I wonder if his contract extends into next year too... I'd be good if we can have him on a min contract in 18-19 season.

It will be interesting to see what happens with PapaG too. I doubt he gets signed for the rest of the season (as I think that would bump us into tax territory). Is it too late to get him onto a 2-way contract now? If so, I think Portland just lets him walk.

I believe Baldwin will be a restricted free agent after the season. I think signing him was always about the future. He’s someone worth developing and he’s in the best possible position as a guard with Terry, vanterpool, and Dame.

It’s too late for two way contracts. My guess is they brought Papagiannis in for a look with an eye towards maybe bringing him back in the summer.

Is it just me or does Baldwin kind of remind anyone else of a PG version of Bazemore when he was first bouncing around on a few teams? Neither were good shooters but Bazemore stuck around because of his athleticism. Baldwin seems like he has pretty long arms and that same almost out of control dribbling style but in an attacking sort of way. If he ever figures out his shot and can learn to play within himself he could be decent.

I'm not sure we'll have a roster spot for him next year though.

Looks like Baldwin actually signed a non guaranteed contract through the 18-19 season. Good shit.

Great signing... if he turns into something Blazers have his rights. He has unique physical attributes, so the potential is there if coaching staff can develop him. I hope we use remaining cap room to lock up Papagiannis to same contract... Papagiannis like Baldwin has very unique physical attributes... 20 year old 7’2” center that can shoot. Having a couple young players like that on minimum ungaranteed deals is great

Not much of a downside with that plan.

I’d like to see the Blazers strength and conditioning team work with Papagiannis for an offseason. He’s lost weight since last year but if he can get his conditioning levels up, I think we could have a very nice backup and a good option for when Nurk is in foul trouble and we’re playing a traditional center.

Another thing about Papagiannis is that he evidently had/has offers from some big European clubs, so I’m not sure how bad he wants to give the nba a go when he’s got guaranteed money waiting for him overseas, closer to his home.

Not really sure why he even took a 10 day contract with Portland, unless there’s a long term plan we don’t know about.

Napier "insurance" in case he gets too big an offer as an RFA is my guess, good signing

Yes, and Papagiannis can be Nurk insurance... in case someone offers Nurk a huge deal. Then we can role with Ed at starting center, Collins at PF and Papagiannis a developmental center of the future off the bench
