The Senate on Wednesday passed the biggest loosening of financial regulations since the economic crisis a decade ago, delivering wide bipartisan support for weakening banking rules despite bitter divisions among Democrats.

The bill, which passed 67 votes to 31, would free more than two dozen banks from the toughest regulatory scrutiny put in place after the 2008 global financial crisis.

Our government is so fucking corrupt and they’re not even trying to hide it anymore.

Clinton gets rid of glass steagall which leads to the bubble that burst in 2008.... economy crashes for all intents and purposes. And heeeeeeere we go again.

I have a metaphor that overrides any other way to describe it in my mind. But it's so offensive, so crass, so wrong, I feel sick when I think of it. Because I think it's true, and it makes me sad.

Isn't it just wonderful how this administration is looking out for the peoples best interest rather than catering to the rich, the large corporations and the banks.

Yes, but this administration has taken the lead by a wide margin.

Not really. It's the same shit, different day.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Trump is just more obvious about his corruption. Why work with a middle man? Might as well just put someone from Verizon as the head of the FCC. Might as well just put someone from big oil in charge of the EPA. Might as well just put someone from the religious right in charge of education. Who needs lobbyists anymore? He's making things more efficient!

That they're having to undo a bunch of stuff from the previous administration does seem to imply that, in some ways important to Trump, the previous administration was less corrupt.

When we look back in retrospect about the Trump administration, it will be easy to divine what was corrupt about previous administrations, because they will be the only policies to remain intact.

That's the shitty thing... I wasn't really happy with Obama, but he sure seemed to be less corrupt.

Neither was I (probably in the opposite direction that you were unhappy) but I definitely felt like his domestic policy was noble in intent.

...let's not discuss his foreign policy too much. Not a big fan of drone strikes.

The subtle, sly, flattering seduction of the citizenry has ended, and the brutal, pretense-less rape has begun.

I am not a fan of occupation. I like having a strong military, but I'm not a supporter of being the world police. We spend too much on having a standing military. I would personally be in favor of having a smaller, more advanced, well trained military. I see the value of the Navy and the Air Force, but personally I would scale back the Army. Emphasize special forces units. Quick reaction forces.

I'm not against drones in theory, but try to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan was a waste of time.

I posted this when Trump was elected.... The movie makes more sense now than when it came out in the 30's.
