The old, honorable man effect. I loved how Comey was an honorable man to the right when they thought he was going to bring Hillary down. When he didn’t, he switched from being a pariah to the left to being an “honorable man”. Well, until he opened the investigation again right before the vote, “cost her the election” and became Trump’s lackey again. Then he let Hillary go again and started digging into the Russia mess and he switched around again. We tend to pick our “honorable men” based on whether we agree with what they’re saying.
